An artistic tour-de-force of the world of racing

Mad_Dog's "Car Race" is a stunning foray into the dangerous world of racing. He manages to show all of the aspects of the sport--the tense beginning lap, the excitement of a wreck, and the utter joy of winning--and ties them together with brilliant skill. What stands out in particular are the emotions portrayed, such as when Green Car hits a ramp-like object that was (for unexplained reasons) on the racetrack and careens into the crowd. You can feel the utter horror and despair of the people when the car bounces off of the ground and they know they are milliseconds from their doom. At the same time, the shaken but proud winner (Red Car) displays the outpouring of emotion that is typical of winners of major sporting events without seeming too over-the-top or cliche. Finally, the surprise ending will leave you gasping--don't stop watching before you see it!
A truly remarkable short film, I give "Car Race" my highest ratings.
