"EPIC"

Finished the game very satisfiying. I could not see how the lord of hell attacked though. It was a lot of fun. Isn't 'the final battle' too much of a cliche? The lord of hell took a bit longer than I thought it would

"Could have better replay value."

This is a fun game. In the early levels, I found it best to preempt the enemy. IN the later levels, build your mana pool first because your mana recharges quicker with a larger pool, this way you can max out your buildings quicker and get out on top of your enemy sooner.

Having to build everything each match gets tiring after everything is maxed out.

It would also be nice if there was more differentiation of the units between each race. Sure, the units are slightly different, but they follow the same formula. It's basically the same unit with a different graphic, and slightly altered stats.

I've played each race all the way through.

"Great game... however..."

I've probably spent at least 5 hours playing this game combined with this and the 1st epic war. I must say for a free game to play on a website it is outstanding, but seeing how this game is pretty intense and addicting, i am going to be exclusively more critical upon its review.
So I made it to level 17 with the elves and I'm sure to say "The End" is difficult. I managed to get is health down to almost 445,000 and we completely along with many paladins and what not, decimated my castle. Which is OK because i know this is a challenging and difficult game. I then noticed i spent the past almost an hour on that level and realized how tedious and stressful that game can be.
Having extremely difficult bosses is not a bad thing of course, but frankly, when you have to play for 30+ or so minutes straight just to get to the boss again on level 17 and then fail miserably, I realized how much of a waste of time it was. You can be sure I am not going to spend another hour just to attempt the boss again.
In conclusion, a suggestion: Re-upgrading everything is a pain in the ass, i feel like I'm playing the same level over and over again. The game lags excessively when over 100 or so units appear on screen and it gets really annoying along with all of my arrows raining down. As with the bosses, I'm sure it would make me and everyone else happy if the bosses had their own individual level and you did not have to play for an hour to fight them. Because when u lose after that everyone says "Eff that".
Well enough of all that, basically what I am upset about is the tedious and repetitive game play and that boss that would take 12 hours of my time to beat.
Anywho, I'm tired of typing but yeah, game gets boring. I think the 1st one is the best, because the upgrades are permanent, and no "gouge your eyes out" hard bosses

It would be a decent enough game, if you didnt have to upgrade everything EVERY mission. with the constant upgradeing its hard to keep track of everything

"99.99% EPIC"

this game has a long storyline which i LIKE and the humans elvens and orcs got good units and great graphics, but i gave this a 9 because i am currently stcuk on level 17. i can beat the castle but when i saw"THE ENDS" health bar i almost COMPLETELY gave up. by the time it was close to my castle i had realized that ALL my specials, arrows, arch angels, paladins, wizards, bombwerman,ho bbits,AND DWARF ELDERS i realized i had BARLY SCRATCHED THE SURFACE OF ITS HEALTH BAR!!!!!!! any pointers?

"good, but with a few serious flaws"

date: September 19, 2009

When I first played with my friend, he didn't have the patience to sit through the storyline, and now I don't have the patience to replay the entire game to read the story. It might be a good idea to include a read story mode to this game. Given the excerpts of the story that I have read, however, I have to agree with the other reviewers that the grammar is egregious. If it was intentional, I fail to see the humor in it; if you don't speak English as a first language, we forgive you, but please make note of that.

Gameplay wise, the game is quite slow. Having to upgrade everything from scratch every level is quite tedious. The mana capacity in particular is too costly/time consuming to upgrade. Furthermore, old levels aren't much easier than the first time you play them, since your starting mana is determined by the level, and not by anything else you do. It would otherwise be comical to send angel knights against the 1st level, but alas, that would take far too long to be worth any amusement.

Music and artwork is great (especially the background that varies according to the sides).

minor spoiler:
The second to last boss is quite a bit harder than the final boss... but only because the last boss doesn't move. Once you figure out how to beat the final boss, he's stupid easy.

spoiler:
The final boss heals from most forms of range attacks [abs = absorb?]. I learned that the hard way when my 80 mages healed him to 2.5x his initial hp [I should trust the reviews a bit more]. Though melee units do damage him, they also trigger his attack, which pwns the melee units, but more importantly, damages your castle by 500 every time. I am not convinced that you can spam melee units fast enough to take him down before he pwns your castle. Contrary to what several reviewers claim, you don't have to be elf to beat the last level. Dragons and angel knights will kill him in short order, The elf ultimate works, but is quite expensive. If the orc ultimate does damage him, it isn't by a lot [if he sticks around after pwning the enemy castle, then he will be too close, and will trigger the boss attack]. The human ultimate is melee and will get your castle ownd in short order. The devil also seems to damage him, but his range is a pixel too short.

At least one of the later reviews reveal how to get the 6 achievements, and hence the dragons/angel knights.

I think this is a bit more epic than Epic War 3 (cause you kind of control when your units spawn). All are great. Love them!
