"Quite enjoyable"

date: January 30, 2009

It would have been useful to know in advance that my weapons shoot only as far as the mouse pointer, not just in that direction... Had to learn it the hard way :)
Also, the status bar disappearing when I'm pointing at the top of the screen was annoying.
And my mech was nearly always too slow to sidestep enemy fire... But maybe it isn't supposed too.
Otherwise, the variety of enemies as well as mech upgrades is rather impressive, adding to the gameplay which is simple but fun. Maybe an option to switch weapons would be nice... in 3001 AD? :)

"Out Standing!"

date: December 14, 2008

Mechasault is an insult to BT'ers everywhere. Its an arcade game. This is like mechassault, only arcade style on flash. Nicely done!

As for costomability, Great for your first BT game.

Terrain, bases, bombers, tanks.... wow! Good job.

Teleporters, weird boss mech and boss chronies, im sketchy on that.

Possibly add in more mechs.... Light mechs are faster and carry less, assault, opposite. It balances the game out alot. That is, if you make a 3001 AD game lol

Great job, keep em coming.

pro: great replay value and fun factor

con: very simple. plays like a free-trial demo for a much more complicated full game. could use more mech types and descriptions for the weapons.

"Righteous"

date: December 4, 2008

Now, I've been playing MW since it was first released (yes, I'm that old), but I never thought I'd see anybody with the guts to make a flash game. I've played it several time already, and I will vouch for the replay value.

To all the new guys: Remember the five rules of guncraft (look it up), and cover works both ways.

To the veterans: Cleanse, purge, kill. 'Nuff said.

"Fantastic"

I very much enjoyed this game and played it through multiple times.

The following are but a few suggestions should you decide to make a sequel:

-Change the terrain into something brighter and grassy. As it is, units blend in too well with the ground. Of course, camouflage may have been your intent all along.

-Various 'mech chassis with different maximum weights and limits as to how many techs, and which techs, can be taken for some variety.

- Add more weapon systems. Pulse Lasers and Gauss weaponry aren't explored in this version.

- Make heat management more of a factor (and limiter) than it is currently.

I strongly believe that, with a few minor tweaks, you would have a strong basis for an online version that would be very popular and might very well be a smash hit with the largely neglected Mechwarrior fan base.

"Bland just got more bland."

date: December 2, 2008

First, I have to say, in all honesty - I didn't play the original mech warriors, nor the newer ones, but I AM a fan of random "giant robot" games ... if you like to call them Mechs to sound cool ... that's fine by me. Also, I have one of the most eclectic tastes in video games out of the many people I have met in my life. Additionally, some of my opinion was based off of things I read in other reviews, like "way too easy", "every level looked the same", etc. Onto my review!

This game sucked. First problem was ... the starting location. The second problem was, after I killed the first enemy, I realized I was playing something INCREDIBLY similar to a different cool robot flash game that I had played. The difference? That game had good graphics, decent music, and didn't make me cringe after 15 seconds of game play. The graphics... OH! the graphics... did you take them from some old mech warrior game I didn't play? Or do you just love the shitty Sega Genesis look? It's not even SNES, it's sega fucking genesis style. I love me some pixelated bushs. Is that a wall? or water? Guess I'll run into it to find out.

Now that I got all the bad stuff out of the way ... the bright side (still pretty dark tho). It seems like the maker took pride in what he did and that is respectable in its own way. Every person can't love every thing. Having more buttons than just shoot and switch weapon is always cool. Allows for this weird thing people call Skill. Most importantly, I think that if the maker of this game sat down to do it - they could probably pull off something that works for a MUCH larger range of people, myself included. It seems that gaming values are the question here. It's sad that someone who says a game was too easy gives it a 10. I won't do that to you ... I will be honest.

1. Music
2. Graphics
3. Plot
4. Difficulty (it's desirable for some people to not have the SKILL to beat your game - but some doesn't mean MOST)
5. Starting Area - might sound ridiculous, but you shouldn't be crammed up in a little hole when you want to get your bearings. First impressions last a game time.

Good effort, but try again.
