"They're getting shorter?"
date: August 27, 2008
I thought this one was better than some of the others, because it spot-on made fun of the lame over-emphasizing of "turbo!" and that stupid stutter-rap crap that all 80's "x-treme" kid shows did. But now you have this intro that takes up a lot of time, and the actual show is shorter. That NES controller was $40 at the time, too. Everyone wanted one, and stores were in short supply. But then about 6 months later you could get the smaller NES turbo controller that was shaped like a boomerang and didn't have "slow mo" and only plugged into 1 port...for $20. So, all those folks who popped $40 of their mommy and daddy's money got laughed at in the end. However, for a brief (oh, so brief) moment in their life, they were the envy of other gamers since they were the first to have the NES Advantage with turbo. (If I remember correctly, the adjustable turbo only came into play on like 1 or 2 games...other than that you'd just keep it on full.) It's amazing how much money we were shelling out on video games back then...and yet we still do (but the quality has gone way up!)
