This was the best one!
A slightly different style, and more FBF animation!
Had some cool syncing, and randomness, and different musics with different moods...
So good job, was a nice series.

"Interesting."

Its a bit out there at times, but that's certainly something that made me love this flash even more.

You've turned something that could've been so basic, into something amazing!

Keep up the amazing work. ^.^

"Bizzare..."

date: July 5, 2008

Was pretty good,

A nice sampling of music,
I didn't watch the other one's, so I'm not sure if there was a story.

The animation wasn't bad,
the drawings were simplistic, but I'm sure that just your style.

Would have been nice if you had a menu with special features (although I'm aware most people don't do this).

And instead of having the film go back to the first frame,
you should have put a stop, and added a replay button.

Other than that no complaints.

Thanks,
- Celx S.

"Odd"

I liked the animation, but I think you could have done better with a coherent story, or even a theme. This wasn't horrible, but I feel like you're capable of creating something better. As you're third grade teacher might say "DAMN IT NIKKO YOU'RE NOT CHALLENGING YOURSELF ENOUGH!"

"Good Flash"

Gave this a 5/5

It's random, no real story to keep you interested, that's the only flaw. But it doesn't interfere with the nice artwork. I know it's not the style of flash that would have a story so that's why you didn't lose a point. It's mindless entertainment, but you should consider adding more to the next one. Overall it's good.

"Great"

Realy good movie, random.

Great graphics, a bit simple but nicely done, Would've like to see backgrounds but it was perfect as it was.

The music was perfect, lovely and fitted the whole feel of the animation

Overall fun movie. Made no sense but that was why it was good. The random sounds weren't so great but I got over it.

"Needed more stuff"

Disappointed to read below you didn't scan the paper yourself. I mean, that was one of the highlights of the flash!

I felt the start was good, with some fbf morphing and some cool synching to the music.

I like the blobs and explosions later on and the noise and brush strokes you add during the radiohead tune work really nicely. However, I felt there was a slight over-reliance on tweening at times and showing the same mcs multiple times (like the pig or exploding buildings) kinda brought it down for me.

I felt that for a movie of this style, there perhaps wasn't enough going on - faster action, or more fbf shenanigans or other visual candy would have brought it up a notch.

As is, I found myself getting a bit tired of it after a while - with no narrative, it's down to the visuals to prop it up so you need to work a bit harder - inject more humour, more of your cool animated animals or a bit of colour, like you had with the trumpets.

Author's Response:

I would have scanned the burnt paper background but my scanner is kind of...
..not scanning right now.
Its broken.

As for the repitition, I found it neccisary to keep in spirit of the analogy series...
..and also having a storyline and/or narrative would go against it.

Though, I could have added more humor to this project but I guess I forgot to deliver in that area.

Also, the lack of color was used as contrast to make the falling trupets mroe significant and for better blending with the paper background.

Anyway, thanks for the review.
Bye bye now.

"Nice animation"

by: Coop83

The music was a really nice selection that you've chosen. Quite ecclectic even, but that's what makes it so good with your 'controlled randomness' style of animation. I particularly liked the trumpets from the Reel Big Fish piece, that added a nice spot of colour to the red & white proceedings.

I'm not entirely sure about all of the aspects of the animation, as I can't quite relate to amorphous blobs on a personal level. Maybe it needs more explanation.

How did you produce the background? Did you just scrunch up a piece of paper and scan it into your computer just like that, or did you make it from scratch on Flash?

Author's Response:

Yeah, i'm pretty proud of how that decending thrumpets scene turned out.
As for the blobs, i just wanted a medium to utlilise that "delayed shadow" technique I was experimenting with.

Also, Background = Google.
kthxbye.

"collaborative free association!"

date: April 19, 2008

This is the first time I've seen one of this series; it was fascinating. Reflecting back on it now, it seemed like a park for relaxing right-brains to wander in. The care and talent that produced this video were evident to my intellect, but it felt free associative, as if the animator were remembering one song followed by another, and sometimes two at once. And the viewer watching it also wonders, and wanders through the shifting forms. To me, this movie was a representation of a vivid imagination, as it played at imagining.

(I am reminded of the work of Frederick Law Olmsted, the landscape designer for Central Park in NYC and Highland Park in Rochester, NY. He said he tried to emulate natural landscapes in his urban parks.)

Very interesting!

Author's Response:

Thats a pretty little analogy you've got there.
If this actually represented vivid imagination, it would much much more wonderful.
Thanks for the review.

Off you go then.

"Very Silly"

date: April 19, 2008

That to me came across as being pretty random and quite silly, no real structure to it but all the drawings did seem to work well with all the music you used. I don't even mean silly in a bad way either, infact it's quite amusing much of this, though some parts did seem a little odd and not really very intresting, but much of it was good and intresting to see.

The choice of diffrent musics was also pretty good, I wasn't too keen on the last one, but that's down to taste, everything else used was good and I did like how the animation actually worked with them, I've seen other people do something like this but often they don't have much flow, you did.

5/5

Aww, the "..two colors in my head" scene was my favorite.
Sorry if the music didin't exactly fit your taste.

Anyway, thanks for the review.
