"Needs to be told more often"
date: May 3, 2009
Ok, first of all, this is a great video, and even though I'm not a fan of Hip Hop, I liked the song, because it's true that nowadays one of the best ways to reach people is through music. People need to be educated about the good in the world, the history of their people, and more importantly, the history of other peoples. We must open the horizons to try and create a world without hate for meaningless purposes. It's ridiculous and there's no sense in hating.
Now, the video doesn't have that much animation, just the odd scene with the kid in the classroom, but it still works. It's great to see the important people that history has thrown into the dustbin. And as I said, I'm not a fan of rap, but this song just works. It's a great idea, and has a great meaning to it.
Second, @ BCWikid: Yes, somebody does need to educate the kids in the gangs, ghettos, or in poverty. With ignorance comes hate, it's that simple.
However, you're a perfect example of how NOT to get a point across. First of all, you typed your message in a barely legible form of English. Ok, so you may talk like that (god I hope not), but that doesn't mean you should type like that.
And Third, once again @ BCWikid: The jews HAVE had it bad, and to be honest, the blacks, latinos, mexicans or any other race that feels oppressed can't really complain when put in comparison. They have had to endure suffering for millenia, not just centuries. They were the slaves of ancient civilizations (does Moses ring a bell?), and continued to be oppressed, abused, and subjugated throughout the rest of history.
And then you have the holocaust. I don't recall ever hearing of that many people of one minority ever being exterminated. Sure, the Tutsi's and the Hutu's and most other tribal groups in Africa seem to be going at it, but they've yet to hit any trully sobering numbers, as terrible as that may sound to say.
Now I'd like to mention that I'm not a racist. I'm 100% for equality for all groups, races, religions, creeds, sexes, lifestyles, etc., but what I'm about to say will probably come off as racist. All I can say is I don't intend to offend anyone, and am not trying to start an argument, but am trying to say what must be said:
Although it is not at all in the same manner of suffering as any other group, the whites find themselves being the victims of racism, by being accused of rascism.
I've personally been a target of racism. I spent a year in a town where I was the only white kid. Everyone constantly called be "whitey", blamed me for their lives and all of their problems, blamed me for stealing their land, etc. I was accused of destroying their ways of lives, because everytime they got a paycheck, they'd waste it on certain items. I was constantly being called a racist, and yet, nobody but me could see the sad truth in the matter. But I'm sure you can see the irony in that, can't you? How the one who's being persecuted is also the one being called the persecutor? Doesn't make much sense, does it.
Another good point, there's Black History month, Hispanic Pride Month, Minority scholarships, etc., but there is nothing for white. Why? Because imagine the uproar if there were ever "White History month" , or white scholarships? Yes, I understand the first thing that comes to mind is the KKK or Hitler. But whites have done plenty of other things, face it, there's a lot of white folk, doing a lot of good. Scientists, Doctors, Teachers, Archeologists, Rocket Scientists, etc. that are white, as well as other colors, who have done great things throughout history.
As I said, I didn't mean to offend anyone, I just hope you can see my side of the argument. I'm not aiming for a nerve, I'm just trying to reach your mind and make you think.
