"Excellent base"
date: February 2, 2008
You've got an excellent beginning here, marred only by a few technical problems.
The base gameplay is fun, and I like how you let people customize their hero a little. (I ended up dumping all my points into weapon speed, was swinging the battle-axe like a crazy frenzied barbarian :D) I also liked how when you died, you saved everything. It had kind of a "Dead Rising" esque feel to the save system. I did end up abusing it at times though, to return to places I didn't feel like walking to. (Need to go back to town? TIME FOR CLIFF DIVING!)
The main problems are in the 6 Rune Quest. There's not enough subtle points directing where to go. I only found the Grass rune because I ended up running around smashing the spacebar everywhere. The oil-pot rune was kind of cool, but I wasn't sure where to find the connector. (I found it through process of eliminiation.) The biggest problem however was in the Lake rune. I saw the hint to search the south shore, but I tried throwing the net, then I thought I needed to ZOMG BATTLEAXE my way over, but wasn't sure what was going on.
Also, the secret quest is broken. I was able to find and complete it, but after completing the quest, the magic spell wouldn't pop into my selections. Also, I was stuck walking around with the net. I went back to the quest giver, but he just gave me the quest again.
Then I slaughtered about 12 pixies in retaliation for the voice over used in the quest. The subject's voice was pretty annoying. This would be fine however, if I could ZOMG BATTLEAXE him in the face.
You've got an excellent beginning. The base gameplay is fun, and has enough of a hook to keep people playing. (I wanted to see just how fast I could get the Battleaxe.) It just needs a little fine tuning.

Thanks for the review. On the rune quest, Melda in the village has about 5 clues to the locations of the runes, the symbols on the runes themselves are clues as well. If you look at them closely, you will see a fish is on one of them, A pixe on another....etc... the compass keeper will give you a clue after you help him fix the great compass. Also in the map there are a few clues if you press down on the map section you are viewing a hint will pop up in the top right.
The Secret quest is on a timer. When you start it, an hourglass will pop up, if you do not complete the quest in the time, You will have to go back and start the quest over. The 3rd magic spell though is worth it. Its by far the best one in the game and the coolest effect.
Thanks for the review and I am glad you had fun. If you have any questions or get stuck, just PM and I will help you out.
