"This Has Really Got Me Steamed..."

...And I REALLY wish I meant that in a good way. While I thoroughly enjoyed the previous iteration of this game: StormWinds 1.5 has made the fatal error of trying to fix what isn't broken. I appreciate the new enemies, new weapons, new upgrades and new campaign. What I don't appreciate are the new layers of difficulty. With its wonky control scheme, Stormwinds is a tricky game to get into, multiply that by the increased difficulty in 1.5 and you have an experience that is no longer enjoyable. It's the inflexibility of the campaigns that makes this game utterly unplayable. Without some inkling of recommendation as to which weapons are ideal, you often find yourself with the wrong weapons for the job and not enough resources to purchase the right ones. Thanks to the weird experience based upgrade system you have no way of bringing new turrets up to snuff either, this naturally causes them to quickly be scrapped by the swarms of steam powered jerks that are constantly harassing you. A good defense game should allow the player to experiment a little, this game doesn't.

Thus ends the rant of my review, now for the helpful part:
1: Make the game less difficult.
2: Reduce the number of the enemies or increase the base hit points of all turrets. ...Or better yet, do both of those things.
3: Put some strategic hints in this game ...seriously! We need them.
4: Tweak the upgrade system, experience should be put in a common pool where they can be spent on turrets of the player's choosing. Upgrades should apply to ALL turrets of that type regardless of how long they have been around.

Implement these changes in Stormwinds 2 or Stormwinds 1.6 or whatever and you'll have a game that I'll buy no matter how much you charge for it!

"Great game but..."

date: October 3, 2009

In the middle of battle, switching guns is a little unresponsive, making sure I don't snipe a guy or shoot a rocket or whatever. still, 5/5 and 10/10due to all the awesome of steampunk done right as well as a fun game mechanic.

"ALOT of fun"

I enjoyed playing this game. Controls took a little getting used to as did the strategy for being successful in this game. I didn't go and do anything for the extra content, but the bit I did play, I can see myself coming back trying to beat my old score :)

This is much better than the old version, keep up the good work dude.
The levels are more challenging and plus the enemies are even a harder challenge, awesome job.

Except this will be more awesome if it had medals in it. :D

"you continue to kick arse"

date: July 19, 2009

i think the game is great, well-balanced, and provides a good challenge... until, that is, you realize that you can stack buff towers and use them with dual machine gun to make the ultimate killing machine.

one day, ill sign-in to armor games and beat the rest. however, i kicked the crap out of this version. good job!

"Ugh"

date: July 14, 2009

I like the idea. And the graphics, and the menus and some of the gameplay.
But like many have already mentioned, the game sends too many enemies. If you could have more firepower, it would be much easier and perhaps possible. Instead of having just neutral turrets, perhaps they could auto fire when not in control. This would allow for the additional firepower. Otherwise, just drop the enemies in a wave.
Still improving over the first though.

The game is rly hard. the weak points r almost impossible to get. if ur not cxontrolling a turret its completly worthless when u should be using them all at once!....so the game gets aggrivating cuz the enemies come outta nowhere and gang rape u! THIS MAKES THE GAME TO BLOODY HARD! SO BY THE TIME U HAVE THE BOMBERS AND BALLONS UR SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!
