"A probably well known bug is..."

When someone with a machinnegun kills an alien, and he has the option to kill another alien near the first one the option to cancel is not visible. I'd say this is absurd and annoying. Because of that always some of the men dies killed by acid. Well, of course I should have moved the cursor over the character, and I would've seen I was able to cancel... but well, I am... lazy.

Still I liked it a lot and played it once a week for months, although I don't really like the chances to kill an enemy by shooting, it's so random.

"Very nice game."

I certainly found it very enjoyable, but there is one problem I found.

There needs to be a rule to stop Aliens turning up right next to, or actually on top of, Marines. However faithful to the boardgame it might be, It's just aggravating when it happens, and very unfair because the chances are it will instantly grab and/or incapacitate the Marine.

I don't know how the game actually works, but hopefully this is possible.

"Awesome!"

I think there should be several updates for this game:
- Give this game medal system!
- I want one more level: the movie's scene where Ripley battles the Queen using Power Loader. You still can play as Hicks or Newt.
Those updates could make the game cooler and better.

"Very cool"

Only one criticism, and it's only because you're doing such a good job staying faithful to the original board game.

In the original board game, marines are allowed to move through each other's spaces, so long as they don't end their turns in the same space.

This tripped me up a few times the first time I played your version.

Oh, and the Operations scenario - in the original rule book, it states that Ripley *must* move Newt down the hallway at her first opportunity. (She can leave Newt there and return to the fight, tho.)

"One issue with this game from the original..."

date: July 9, 2009

Marines and Aliens were not allowed to go diagnol. This is a huge flaw with the flash version. flaming the ground is not near as usefull because of it.

Author's Response:

The rules are pretty clear on movement, diagonal is fine.

But, you are right that there is an error. I can't believe I never realized it before, but the aliens should not be able to move diagonally through fire and a wall. Thanks for making me look at it again.

"Fantastic"

I bought the board game and the expansion both when they first came out, and have many fond memories of playing this game back in high school. This Flash version is a spot-on perfect recreation of the board game, and everything that made it fun-- the sound effects, music, everything are authentic and perfect.

"Hard, but OK."

By the way I also played an earlier version of this game. It has no ammo features, however. Enjoyed that more than once!

""Marines, we are leaving!!!""

So well done, but the Power Loader vs. Alien Queen scenario really needs to be created, I mean everything else is here, why not that too?

But anyways this really is first class. I did a pretty good playthrough of the Reactor Mission and uploaded it to youtube, check it out for anyone that wants to know how to play this correctly.

Please please please, Powerloader vs Alien Queen, make it happen!

"Fantastic stuff, well done!"

Well, I have just discovered this and have been playing it constantly for about a week now. I'm a MASSIVE Aliens fan since the eighties, and I still have both the original Leading Edge board game and its expansion. What you have made with this simply amazes me! Thank you so much.
Yes it's bloody hard, I have only Once managed to get all the marines out of the Reactor Room, alive and fully intact. Only to be wiped out to the last man in Operations - it was just Newt, in the end, scurrying down the tunnels... but she could not run fast enough!
I really hope you come back and make more with this game - we need the Ripley/Powerloader vs the Alien Queen scenario. I always found this one very difficult. Excellent work with the recent updates - I love the ammo restrictions (all too realistic!) and flame squares (really useful!) I would be thrilled if you added Facehuggers to the Rescue Newt scenario - and how about the good old Hunt The Queen? It's a must - especially if you've made it out of Ops with at least 3 or 4 people.
What could be improved? Not much really. I would ask that you increase the MUSIC play time - I just love James Horner's score and I'm very glad that you have included it - but please make the samples a bit longer. I find myself getting annoyed that the sound clips keep repeating after 20 or so seconds, and personally for me, making the music longer would be extremely satisfying.

I also think that the original colour-coding for the charatcers would be a good idea. It would stay faithful to the board game and make it a little easier to see who's who, especially when zoomed out. I'd like to see the game automatically scroll through through and hi-light the character whose turn it is, up the top of the screen. As it is currently, if you have say, more than 9 men alive, you have to left-click to scroll through the list in order to find the character (to check his status for example). It should just auto-scroll along from left to right, as the men take their turns. And could you make the manually driven left-right scroll happen automatically just by holding the mouse over the white arrow icons? For a speedy scroll though.
That should do for now. I'll post more thoughts/suggestions as they come. Brilliant work, though! Thanks again!
