"Are Somethings Better Unchanged?"
date: November 4, 2007
jmtb02 is without a doubt one of the most well known flash authors on Newgrounds, and when it comes to games he's nearly unbeatable. For years now, his games have been known simply as "the way things should be done". It's almost as though whenever he makes a game, the whole world of Flash game development changes. He truly knows how to push Actionscript to its limits.
His newest game is titled -/ TBA /-, and is about as weird as it's title. You travel from port to post in a little ball using only the space bar. The objective of the game is simple enough: get to the goal. Much like the newest Valve entry "Portal", it's kind of hard to explain, and it's simply best that you tell someone to play it rather than the concept of the game itself. Anyone that's played any of the Ball Revamped series knows exactly how to play this game. It's almost the same game, even, but different enough so that it's not boring.
At first glance, this game seems short. 25 levels in any other Flash Game would be a shocker, but the last couple of games in jmtb02's catalog have been HUGE. The real length to this game is similar to the game of golf. There's a set "par" that you're either over or under at the end of the game, and it works great. It's really one of those features that makes you want to go back and play this game again, just to get a higher score.
The only thing that makes this game suffer is that it's just too similar to the other games that jmtb02 makes. I mean, that's not a bad thing, but it just seems like it's a copy of one of his games, not something he made himself. Other than that, if you love jmtb02's work, check this out. For others, try some of his other games prior to spending time on this one.
