"A very moving piece."

date: July 25, 2008

My thoughts are that when we see the black and white we are seeing what this man is remembering. When the scene is red we then see where this man is now. I gather that this man was religious but murdered a child (perhaps by accident i think because of the tears on his face) or saw the the child had been murdered an felt saddend by the cruelty of mankind. This caused him to turn his back on his faith (the falling crosses) and drove him to suicide. We then follow this man as he faces his fate. At least that is what I think.

"Hit me down to the marrow of my bones"

A person I once knew well is dying. I suppose a piece about repentence has its place in my life right now. What a wonderfull piece of art. I am blown away.

"How melancholy..."

date: July 10, 2008

Just the way I like it. A very dark and sad story you've created here. I understand this old man did something very very wrong, some great sin or crime of some sort, maybe he caused the death of the child shown in the black and white scene (his child?). There things that show his repentance for whatever it was, like the pamphlets he hands out to people, trying to get the people to understand whether or not they're good enough to gain entry into Heaven, or if they'll fall into the depths of Hell when all is said and done; that seemed like it was an event that bears realization and understanding of what it was he had done wrong and his attempt at reconciling for the sin. It seems that he may have killed himself for some reason (the child's death he caused) by jumping off a bridge, maybe the guilt was too much for him and wanted to be released from it, maybe he thought he might redeem himself with this act. But there are clear and open signs that this may not have been enough to redeem his soul, the man is walking past a large cross and it warps, or falls, or leans away from him as he moves past it, like it's rejecting him, forsaking and shunning his presence. And of course the final scene, with the blinking "up" arrow showing that his fate is not for sure, or certain, that his crimes will weigh heavy upon his judgement.
Amazing art, amazing concept, nice insertion of a moral message (even if it may not be what I belive it to be), and it shall keep me pondering for a while.

"Chilling..."

date: July 9, 2008

This reminds me of the Holocaust, and I saw the Christianity things.

It seems at then end he doesn't wait for his God to take him, but takes himself ( as in life).

Very good, haunting, keep it up.

"My take?"

date: July 8, 2008

Child died, Wife left him, so he turned his back on God, and then committed suicide, but I think the denoumet shows that it's never too late for repentance. There's always a way too heaven.

BUT. Just my take.

"I watched it twice..."

date: July 6, 2008

I tried to figure out meaning. I didn't get it, although i tried my best. It was going with religion, in the beginning, and how it helps us rise above. How it helps us through the rough times in life. The Death of family, the long years. I was getting so close the answer, until i saw the negatives. As the ring sat on the ground, and his voice pounded through my head I started to lose my grasp on its meaning. The persons life seemed to fall apart, his loss, the fall of religion, and then he jumped. I thought i was catching on, but I feel I have lost it.

"hard to understand"

date: June 19, 2008

I won't claim I completely understand it, but I like the complexity of it, and the animation is inspiring. I especially loved the bridge scene, and you inspired me with an idea about an animation I'd like to make. Very well done, I can't wait to see more!
