"Great game but..."

date: July 11, 2007

...it's really easy to cheat at for perfect scores. All you have to do is keep mashing on the corresponding arrow and it will not persecute you for overdoing it. Just thought I'd say it.

"I don't know why this thing's score is so high."

date: July 11, 2007

The graphics are quite polished and good looking but the game itself is awful. The music is not quite my taste, but I can't blame you for that, what I can say though is rhythm based games are usually much more enjoyable when the songs have an emphasized beat(big loud kick drum, and stuff of that nature). Even if the game was full of songs with strong beats, the gameplay would still be atrocious. What kind of rhythm based game isn't even in time with the song? I think I'll stick to DDR and Guitar Hero for rhythm games, because this wasn't much fun at all.

"excellent idea"

date: July 11, 2007

Excellent in parts such as achievments even tho not a brand new idea, its is in a flash game which everyone knows makes games that little bit more addictive if not alot more.

Only thing i didnt like about it was the actuall music which is...like... a major part of the game!! if im gonna play a beat game i wanna actually feel the beat corsing through my fingers, feet or whatever its is im mashing into a controller, something that makes u feel like U actually are the main attraction at the BIGGEST fucking rock concert ever devised by a human being.

*takes breath*

but this not so much. Still give it a 9 though cuz its still very clever.

"Great rythm game"

date: July 11, 2007

This was certainly one of the better games in the Rock Out contest I have seen. It had somewhat of a story which was a nice change and played beautifully. The choice between scooping and hitting the notes was a cool addition which made Ongaku more varied and fun. I also found the level of difficulty to be perfect (just reached Gold Hall of fame =)).

As a console game I could definitely see this panning out well. The up and down movement would be perfect for a Wiimote or Sixaxis controller. Also, the achievement section is just begging for achievement points on the 360. With some more songs and possibly some power ups this game has much potential.

My only complaint is that using the W and S keys for up and down movement is a little awkward and I would have appreciated the ability to customize my controls. Otherwise, great game and thanks for the hard work!

"Console Material"

date: July 11, 2007

I would love to play this game on a console because it's got creativity and the music is pretty sweet. you just have to add some more music make it longer and more levels. it's tight

"Perfect Scores through manual turbo button"

date: July 11, 2007

Basically, I managed the to make Master Painter and Ongaku Master within about 3 hours of playing, got 100% on everything, and S++ on every level except for 5, which I got an S+ in.

How'd i do it? rapid key pressing. Anytime the I had an arrow approaching, I would rapidly press it as it approached. this is especially effective where you have the same arrow coming up multiple times. however this is not particularly effective when you have a rapid string of all different arrows (which is why i only got an S+ on level 5)

I think what a lot of people are having trouble with is realizing this isn't DDR or Guitar Hero. It's actually NOT a good idea to wait for the arrow to line up with ongaku. You always want to hit it a little earlier, as the tutorial says, just as it turns black.

I like the hold feature though. You won't get a perfect score just holding it down, but it at least gives the rookie players a bit of a support so they can survive until they get a better feel for the game.

"Best rythm game I've played... possibly ever"

date: July 11, 2007

I love the style of play! Typical rythm games where you have to hit the not exactly right don't really do it for me. Any lag in the processor at all screws you up. It does make it harder to have a challenging game though, if you don't have to hit the notes right on. But the little stylized twist with the W and S keys were nice. Great game!

Nice simple title by the way lol.
