"Good idea, bad execution"

date: July 4, 2007

It was a good concept and the visuals were very polished. But the one thing that should have been polished in a game about avoiding collisions is COLLISION RECOGNITION! When you were polishing your visuals you should have been polishing this instead. It was frustrating being very close to the end when suddenly the string turns red and its not touching anything. And sometimes I'll be dragging the string along inches into the walls and the game won't care. If you make another one definitly work on this.

"Awesome job."

The first game was fun, but in making a sequel, the stuff you added on to it and generally improved in it made it even better. Really, really well made game.

"String avoider..."

by: Dew
date: July 4, 2007

String avoider, how could this ever have become a hit, dont get me wrong it isnt a bad submission, its a little bit of fun, but there isnt really anything to make you really want to keep playing this game. The level editor was a nice touch, but again nothing spectacular. Maybe if you could change the color of the string, it would add a bit more to it. Meh average game.

Author's Response:

Maybe if you looked around before making this review, you would know that you can change the color of the string and walls.
Thanks for the review, silly.

"fun game"

date: July 4, 2007

but it sux that u kant save yer progress, & the level editor is irritating. it would be better if u could just click in a square & it would fill in black, instead of having 2 drag the mouse. also its hard 2 tell where the entrance/exit will appear when u place it

"Good game"

date: July 3, 2007

Pretty cool game I gotta say. Few things - the slo-mo is completely useless, meaning that you can handle the thing only with your mouse even slower that using slo-mo. Of course if you know how, which is not very difficult to figure out. Knowing that it was easy and I didn't die much or had any problems with the first 20 something levels and the game become a little repetitive and boring. Nice effort, cool concept, you got 4 on it.

"Better than the first"

by: Sp3000

To me, String Avoider took me ages because of the fact that you had to take the outside of the corner to avoid dying (and also because of lives). I like how you changed that and added "slo-mo."

Only one thing that confused me - the physics engine. The "rotating level" kinda made my head spin.

Good job anyway!

"Pretty fun."

date: July 3, 2007

It was a little bit hard on some of the really tight spots and corners, but not too bad. And i got confused when i died a few times cuz i didn't realize that the back of your string movesdifferently than the exact path you take, so blargh. lol.
I think it would be cooler if you added more color options, and an option to use a key board or mouse.
(also, for some reason when i changed the wall color, they didn't change, but the string did, so iono.)

Author's Response:

Yeah, that's what makes the challenge. It would be far too easy if the string just followed the path you took. Just like any other avoid game. The reason for the wall not changing is that the level is rendered once, so it will only change in the next level, whereas the string will change when you die and make a new one. Thanks for the review!

"Difficult, buggy."

date: July 3, 2007

It's obvious you spent a lot of time polishing this game, but it's just too hard. Just the fourth level required intense precision, especially with the way the string moves so quickly. Human hands just can't move a mouse that precisely without jiggling it a bit. Beyond that, it seemed to have bugs that made it unplayable. I would just randomly die in a level, and I could see my string's tip wasn't anywhere NEAR a wall. All in all, this game was good for nothing more than a few minutes of frustration.

Author's Response:

I don't understand. Human hands can clearly beat this level as I have, along with every single other level in this game. I wouldn't release this game if it was as buggy as you claim it is. Maybe your 1997 IBM is processing it wrong, or your ball mouse can't handle the precision of such an easy level.

Thanks for the review, though
