"GOOD BUT"

date: July 6, 2007

I think the game was easy except the last level and the way you can make you own level was kinda screwy. When i wanted to make a wall it wouldn't and when i was trying to do something else it made a giant wall. It f**in p***ed me off!!!!

Author's Response:

The instructions are right there. It's easy. Just click anywhere and it'll snap to the nearest block and you can drag to make the wall as big as you want. It's not brain surgery, sir.

"I guess I just can't do it"

date: July 7, 2007

But after the 75'th try on that stage that bends 180 degrees and you have to get the scissors on teh very top to make it around the final bend I remembered by I couldn't play the last string pulling game. It's impossible. It's just completely impossible to play these games. Every single angle, every single direction, going forward then pulling back then going forward again, straight shooting it with speed, using slow button to try to bend around it, trying to go right down the middle, trying to go to both sides of the gap, and in every attempt it catches the side of the gap like it's predeterined from the first few pixels you move. Like when i make a turn, no matter which direction i pull the string after that, itll hit the wall. I made a turn with a quick left and then right, and even if i go directly backwards to where i came from, the back end gets pulled forward and hits the wall. So after two hours, screw it, I'm not gonna try anymore.

"Not hard at all"

date: July 6, 2007

The only levels that were remotely difficult were the very last couple. I never had to use any of the slowdown stuff, and why didn't you just make the string small from the start? With the exception of maybe one or two levels, EVERY SINGLE level had the string cutter right at the beginning. So, what's the point of making it a power-up if it's on every single level and very easy to obtain? The last one in this series was much more entertaining and challenging. Very disappointing. And then when you win, bam. Right back to the title screen. There wasn't even a "you win" message. What's that all about? Bleh.

"Good idea, bad execution"

date: July 4, 2007

It was a good concept and the visuals were very polished. But the one thing that should have been polished in a game about avoiding collisions is COLLISION RECOGNITION! When you were polishing your visuals you should have been polishing this instead. It was frustrating being very close to the end when suddenly the string turns red and its not touching anything. And sometimes I'll be dragging the string along inches into the walls and the game won't care. If you make another one definitly work on this.

"Did you actually try playing this game?"

date: July 6, 2007

The clipping was atrocious. My string would get killed off with easliy 6-7 pixels on either side -- which is about all you get by stringing it through a 1-block-wide tunnel. Once the string passed right through a pair of scissors without triggering it at all. The clipping isues are not a graphic quality problem; I tried it on all three quality settings and still got killed by the empty space around walls.

On a less hostile note, the change of movement controls from the last one was really awkward. The drag-scroll thing just felt choppy and jerky. It wasn't too bad with the slow-mo on, but obviously your ability to do that is limited.

I did actually like the level design, and eliminating the lives from the first SA was a very good move. Unfortunately, the improvements in those areas just got overshadowed by the frustration of getting killed by invisible 6-pixel-wide force fields around every wall I came across.

"Could have been a lot better."

date: July 8, 2007

This game could have been a lot better. The graphics were a bit below par and not all of it blended together. As far as the style, it wasn't all that great. The levels weren't made very sleekly. The sound was one of the worst parts. It wasn't original, it was very repetitive, and generally there wasn't much of a variety either. There was no violence or humor, but some entries just don't have that. The interactivity was so-so. The control was alright, though mouse control isn't always the best way to go. Custom level editing was good, but there was no variation in what you could make. No special items or anything (besides scissors.) My advice to the artist; put a little more effort next time. Spice the game up a bit. Get some new items, better graphics, original music, etc. Overall, this game might entertain you for a little while, but it gets to bugging you soon enough.

A side-note: All levels (besides custom ones,) are possible. I completed them all.
