"Not Bad."

date: August 15, 2009

Needs quite a bit of improvement, but not too bad. Use the mouse to aim. Or WASD. Please, just dont use the arrow keys unless they are the action buttons, wasd is so much more control and user friendly than up down left and right are.
Add more items, and something more effective to counteract the reflection and annoying out of your sight movements. Then maybe pop in some more backgrounds, give the enemies actual movements instead of wobbles.. and viola youll have a nice game. Wish you best of luck with what you decide to do.

Thanks : ) It's been a while but Vermilion 4.0 is still on my to-do list of games, might get it out next year.

I liked it alot, the only thing that I can say is add some backgrounds to go with the mission.

"good but"

date: September 16, 2007

it would have been nice to be able to aim with the mouse and the power ups are a tad expensive sicne you end ip doing the same lvls over and over again. still good game.

Author's Response:

There's an updated mouse-control version on my home site, which I agree is an improvement. I'll keep your suggestion about powerups in mind for the next full installment in the Vermilion series. Thanks for the review.

"just a quick kudos!"

date: August 13, 2007

all I have to say is: ^_^
there. I said it. lol.
good stuff all arounds. (as far as I got.) level 6 (the lab) was a little... hard (meaning it kicked my ass.) but other than that.
good selection of tunes as well... I hope you do make something similar in the future, but keep up the good work.

August 22, 2007

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review. By the time you reach Level 6 the game gets harder to encourage the player to go back and play through levels to build up there ship, if you reached the final boss you'll know that you wouldn't stand a chance without most of the upgrades.

"Cool"

date: August 13, 2007

Impressive. The fact that the models contained thousands of polygons is amazing in comparison to Lara Croft.
Perhaps it would have been better if the axis was controls with the mouse, perhaps? This is MY opinion anyway.
Overall, I think it was a great game and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.

Author's Response:

Thanks for your review. I agree that mouse control would have been better, so I released a mouse version (Vermilion 3.5) at my site, but have not released it at Newgrounds. There will be a new full installment in the series later this year.

"Oh."

date: March 23, 2007

The idea is great, and the graphics are quite awe-inspiring.
And personally I like the editable music choices... or however you wish to describe it.
It's just the gameplay... is there no way to redo the buttons to make it easier to shoot?

Author's Response:

Thanks for reviewing! I thought the controls worked alright but I guess you just need to get used to them, I wasn't expecting too much from the game after some beta testers didn't seem to get it either. Wish I'd changed it after that now, but maybe I'll come back the Vermilion series in the future!

"music&controls"

date: March 23, 2007

the idea was ok (7/10), but the gameplay killed it.
and the music..

Author's Response:

I think the music goes pretty well myself, if you don't like it you can always turn it off and play your own at the same time (I find myself doing that with most games). Thanks for reviewing.
