"Why would I play this..."

instead of any of the hundreds of other shmups? It's a decent idea (fight aliens throughout time), and the execution is decent but it's just that... decent. The powerups are painfully bland, and it was bothersome to have to avoid powerdowns. Why would the 3-way spread drop when I have a 6-shot spread? Combine the restricted level design, and bland, repetitive enemies and this is really one to drop. You've got a great base here to build something worthwhile on. I may sound harsh, but the good new is that the things that need massive work are the things that are easiest to chage. The flight system and controls were great, and collision detection was on for the most part. I think you're on to something with the environmental hazards. Especially the ice level caught my eye. Anyway, this was a particularly frustrating game for me to play simply because it could have been so great. Keep the basic system, and add in some worthwhile content, and you could have a great game.
