"Well done film"
date: March 17, 2009
It's hard to draw anything specific from this film because, as you said, you didn't put key clues in but whatever. Of course, one doesn't have to be religious, like myself, to know about religions. As a response to those below me, I strongly disagree with your belief about religion and that the film says religion is the cause of wars. To keep it relevant I'll argue the latter (feel free to correct me, Jack Someone).
The religous man doesn't go out to fight the war, it comes to him. Why? Well, we don't know for sure but my guess is that those people believe that he is inferior. This could be race, ethnicity, w/e. Religion is generally defined as a set of beliefs and that is important to keep in mind. As long as there is some kind of different belief to be held (such as Whites are better than Blacks) there will be people fighting over it.
To put it bluntly, to say the film says religion was the cause of the war is short-sighted. If anything it's about a man who strongly believes against killing but does so to save his life and the church's when attacked in a holy site.
But w/e.
