This is a great tutorial,though it wasn't much help to me since I already own that book you recommend at the end. But needless to say the tutorial covers everything anone wants to know about the retro style.

i liked the tutorial and it pointed me to several good guidelines. but people wont spend much timw with it, simply cause manga is more popular now. i like this style, though.

im doing level 7 art studies and massey university in new zealand and i was very impressed with this submission it was well planned but i do have to agree with it being slightly confusing
