I didn't really like this game, because of the hard-to-get-used-to steering controls, but the graphics and audio were well done, and I liked how you put so much effort in.

the menu was quite confusing and was waayy too full of advertising. with that off my chest, the visuals were stunning and while the steering was a little hard to figure out the gameplay was quite fun.
you get an 8 because you obviously put so much effort into this, and for the relatively small file size for such an advanced flash game. you lose 1 for confusing me with the menu!

For a Flash-based game, this has to be one of the most technologically advanced that I have seen in a long time, both graphically and physically. The core graphics and gameplay are very smooth and the psuedo-3D effect is absolutely astounding. It gives off a great depth of field (very hard to come by in a 2-D racer) and I really know where my boat is at all times and how far ahead the next corner is. The sense of speed is here as well, but moreso when you're running behind the leaders. The bob of the boat, the degree of turning angle, and the effects featured here combine to form a spectacular program.

Two things I didn't like, however: the physics are suitable but far too tight. For a game that most people will want to just pick up and play, the controls and turning ability at high speeds should have been closet to that of Hydro Thunder. Plus nitrous effects would look cool. Second, the track is occasionally hard to distinguish directionally without the use of the map.

Either way this is a fantastic piece. Very well done.

"Excellent gameplay"

I have no idea if this is what piloting a speedboat is really like or not, but it was believable. It felt weird slamming on the 'brakes' for every curve, and accelerating to 185 MPH in a few seconds. I totally bought the illusion of perspective; in other words the water, ships, bouys etc. were all very well done. However, I've seen much better graphic and sound quality in flash. This kind of reminded me of some 10 year old console and arcade games: very fun gameplay, but dated graphics & sounds.

i cannot say i like this game. it is much too hard to control the boat.

however, the programming in this must have been an incredible task...if only the controls were better. i'd prefer it if i had to hold the up arrow key down to keep my throttle up...
