"Uhm... wtf?"

date: 7 hours ago

I'm not so convinced by the physics engine...
In the first level, placing a + behind the projectile should be more than enough. The speed of the particle is not supposed to drop when it gets far from the source of the field: it's the strength that drops, and with it the acceleration. Another way to see it is to say that at first Coulomb potential energy is converted to kinetic energy, but when the projectile is far enough the potential becomes constant and so the kinetic energy.

Instead, the projectile slows down and slowly deviates towards the upper right corner: does it feel the field of the - charges up there? Maybe while not feeling the + charges?

Anyway, the trajectories are too weird for my taste, making easy levels much harder than necessary and hard levels too annoying.

I understand this was only a school project but please don't brag about using scary physics equations...

P.S. The major wtf goes to the comments, as always... I've read at least 5 reviewers referring to magnets, really sad...

I give you 10/10 because of the physics engine, I had a LOT of fun on the first level :D

"Uhhh...."

date: November 7, 2009

2 for effort, I suppose. I ran the same one twice, and it went two completely different directions. Cute. I'm sure there's some random reason in physics about no two same paths or what-the-hell-have-you but as a game... no. If there's no reliability in setting up the field for strategy then there's a lot of frustration and not in a good way.

Try again.

Hope you got a good grade, though.

This game was awful, I'm sorry, but there are a lot of improvements needed to this game. You should be happy I'm giving you a 3 for a least creating a good idea and making it bad...

Dude... You got some MAJOR improvments to do with this...

1.I crusted the ENTIRE field... Twice... On level 2 and it still somehow escapes.
2.The slight touch to any wall destroys it. How do you get a goal?
3.A path of -'s should get it through; but it just hits the first and dies, but sometimes it doesn't... Wtf?
4.More music options?
5.Hotkeys for + and -'s.
6.More textures for bricks. Lighten it up a bit :P
7.When it flies off the screen in a weird way, it goes like 500 mph. (It does this alot)
8.The path are dots, so when it flies off, you might not be able to see the path to fix it. (See 7)
9.If you lay a path out and you can't see where it goes (See 7 & 8) and you try again, it might take a TOTALLY different path.
I can think of MANY, many more, but I have to go, luckily...

Oh and the ONE good thing about this is that you have no limit to +'s and -'s :D

"I wish I understood pos and neg ions, better."

date: October 3, 2009

I've made it to level four. I think.
If I only understood positive and negative charges, I could formulate a better approach to victory.
So I am faulting my own ignorance, in this case.

"wtf"

this game is impossible, I make one tiny adjustment and the ion goes a completely different direction (most often, directly into the wall) the physics are great, but it's just impossible to play, couldn't even get past the 2nd lvl

"ALL LEVELS COMPLETE (including the impossible)"

date: July 13, 2009

Fun, accurate physics game! A few problems, like the slamming into the goal or going through it, and some glitches when you have many of the ions out at a time, but I worked through tehm and most of the time they didn't happen.

Instructions definitely would have helped. I figured it out but as you can see by other reviews, other people didn't.

Also, the menu button when you beat the game doesn't work because the cursor becomes a text selecting cursor instead of teh button presser if you know what I mean? I had to refresh the page to go back and play The Impossible.
(reminding me: You should also have brief instructions on how to enter a level into the selector. I tried all lower case, then with quotes, until I figured out it has no quotes and is case sensitive.)

Overall, fun game for certain kind of people.

tip for other players. a "tunnel" of red works well for some levels if you are getting frustrated. However, I didn't use one when I cuold help it and on a few it doesnt work. The Impossible, I sort of mixed a tunnel-like layout of positives, but not very tight, and strategically placed some negatives on the curves and at the end.
