"This is not worth the time."

date: April 15, 2007

After the first four exercise, I gave up on this thing. Those are the most stupid set-ups of pieces that I have ever seen(make some scenarios that happen in more then just one of a million games). Most of those situations would never come about in a real game with people who actually any good, and the others so rare that you should learn how to actually think logicly over watching some set of moves that works in one out of a million different possibilities. Yes, these may be checkmates, but they aren't going to be any use. Learning some strategies and logic are a far better method of learning chess. I think would have been better if you actually explained the logic behind the moves and then the audience might learn something.

I voted to protect this. I thought it would be something stupid, but actually was achess tutorial. It was fun and straightforward. I would not necessarily use the term advanced. Perhaps for advanced beginners I would concur. These simple exercises are useful, but are for unrated players, not even for club level players, just for amateurs who have a mild interest beyond what the pieces do.

In 2 move mates, example 2 does not work -the rook could take the queen. If I missed something and am just stupid, plz reply.

Author's Response:

the rook can not move becasue the bishop would kill the king ,the rook is pinned
the rook can not move

"Not Bad"

It gives some basic problems and all that; it's very basic. One thing, though, is that the Knight, in chess is notated with an N not a K, like you have in the tutorial. If you are going to teach notation which you do in the "blinfolded chess" section, make sure it's correct.
