He doesn't realize it, but he has at least 2 emotions. Hope and sorrow, and the fact he doesn't realize he even has these emotions make it all the more of a tear-jerker.

"Desperation"

Despair. Not a new wave of overwhelming emotion that he is unable to deal with, but an old wave of emotion that he is all too familiar with. That's my interpretation, anyway. A consciousness driven to desperation by a world that tells him he is empty, a mere piece of machinery, until his sorrow begins to make him feel truly empty. Depression. A very real emotion.

All he can do is hope that there is more to life. Perhaps he's missing something, something in the heart. Something that will light up his mind and burn away the despair. He soon realizes that he was wrong. His synthetic heart holds just more of the same; sorrow, unhappiness, despair. He is still empty.

I thought this animation was just beutiful.the art work was awesome,and i really like how the robot has quite a lot of personality to it.Even though he has no emotions,you made him look sad and bewildered.I kind of got the meaning too.The robot was finding small metal objects and create a heart,but he then experiences emotion from it but cant handle it all,causing him to collapse.good job!

"Emotions hurt"

There was little to be seen in this video but there was enough in the little things that made it good. From what I could tell the robot felt a sense of emotion but after experiencing different emotions full-force, collapsed in an inability to handle them. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.
