"Great message."
date: March 27, 2006
Watched this a shitload of times. Been voting it up regularly. About time I reviewed it.
some selected aspects (rated from ----- to +++++)
(note: I'm not rating everything or trying to break the flash up into constituent parts. Just indicating how much each thing I mention adds to/detracts from my enjoyment of this.)
===============================
+++++: A serious message delivered. You not only encourage responsibility, but also suggest some simple ways for individuals to make a real difference (bike, no sprays... though I thought spraypaints were now free of those chemicals nasty for the atmosphere?).
+: In a way, the simplified graphics encourage folk to look at the actual contents of the movie.
--: However, some parts were distractingly bad. I had no idea what the scene before Antarctica was, until I paused it to take a longer look. I guess it's meant to be the sea, with a wave coming in. That's kinda indecipherable. Also, the arm and that 'signing' scene had terrible perspective.
+++: I like the text at the end.
---: Though it'd have been a good place for you to reinforce the responsibility of every individual.
++ Music fitted well, with some parts going along to the beat.
- music doesn't appear to be set to 'stream', which would be appropriate for bgm in a movie...
overall
=========
It's a great movie. NG needs more stuff like this, encouraging social responsibility.
I love the message and the delivery is great.
The graphics (though I don't mind their simplicity) and the fact that I'd like you to reinforce the individual's importance are what prevent me from giving you a 10.
I had to think about it for a while. (9 or 10)
Awesome piece. Hope you make another this year.
Stay funky,
