"Oh joy! It got better! Haha"

date: February 22, 2005

Intense, sir. Incredibly intense. The fast paced action of a minor trailer held its own in this dialogue full animation. I loved the buildings, excellently executed, but more important are the representations of God and Satan. I am not a religous child, (hell I am probably only like 6 years old, who knows), but this was honestly a very, uh, hip way of representing both characters. God hidden under a mask of light and gray hair, perfect. Satan, hidden under crimson glasses and dark hair, even better.

You thought outside the box, and fuck you to those who say 'Oh well the book doesnt mention red goggles...' well the book is also what.. 300 years old? Anyways, you managed to keep a fast paced dialogue scene. My one big beef, you kind of overused the side profile idea. You know, camera split half way down middle of face and black backdrop. You did it alot. Alot. Maybe not just in this episode, but in both this and the second episode.

Keep up the good work, I enjoyed it. I enjoy it. I want to see more. Please?

"Oooh"

Dude, this is a nice adaptation. The animation is real slick and the background music is a great touch. Though it would be real cool to have voices, the use of the actual dialogue from Faust makes up for it. I look forward to more.

"Its like the biblical Book of Job"

date: February 22, 2005

Where God and Satan make a wager over the servant Job, and whether he is good because God gives him good things, or whether he is innately good.

"Let's not bash Marlowe"

by: Xatu
date: February 22, 2005

Okay, so Marlowe wasn't the greatest playwrite on earth. But let's not turn this into a "Goethe vs Marlowe" forum. Goethe, Marlow, and yourself have taken on a common folklore theme and produced a novel, play, and animation, respectively. It's not fair to compare the three on the same ground. There are some things you can do in a novel or flash that you just can't do in a play. So let's enjoy each one for what it is, rather than what it isn't.

"Fuck you man! Marlowe is where it's at."

date: February 22, 2005

While I do approve of this series, I think credit should be given to Marlowe for actually coming up with an original concept, instead of copying like a certain someone "coughGoethecough". Juat the same, good job with the animation, terrible idea of endorsing a hack.

Author's Response:

Have you ever read Faustbuch? Yeah, Faust has been around ALOT longer than Marlowe.

but... Marlowe? That british sod just whipped off fifty million plays a day. His "drama" sucks, and he made Mephisto into a whining pansy.

Marlowe was also a whining pansy. He died in a bar fight at the age of twenty-something. Some say it's because he was a spy, but some random guy probably just pounded the shit out of him because he was such a crappy playwright. I mean, HONESTLY.

...although "the Jew of Malta" wasn't so bad... but it was still crap.

"Modrenizing a classic."

date: February 22, 2005

Normally thats a bad thing, because classics, like Faust, should never greatly altered, however you have done a good job so far. I found it a bit weird how you made Mephistopheles into a human, the type I'd see at Marilyn Manson concert. Not that I have anything against the look, it just seems you've modernized the characters, yet kept the settting in the late middle ages. However, a highly stylized animation made it better. Hope you keep going with it.
