Author's Response:
"Oh D-Kun," murmured Duke as he rolled over in bed to face his lover, "I wish this moment could last forever." He then noticed the furrow in D-Kun's brow. "What's the matter, sugar?" Duke enquired, gently touching D-Kun's shoulder.
"Nothing," D-Kun snapped, flinching a little at Duke's touch. "I just... I just can't... I can't believe that you aren't as manly as I thought."
"It's okay," Duke consoled in those smooth tones that not only made great music but also won D-Kun's heart on that romantic evening. "Just because I wanted you to take me up the-"
"Just don't-!"
D-Kun turned away in disgust. Although he had gained the love of a great, passionate and talented man, he had lost a hero. The false image of Duke Nukem the gun-totin', babe-lovin', alien-killin', toilet-drinkin' stomp-a-hole-in-their-asses Bruce Campell soap opera-watchin' guy faded like the display on a dying computer monitor inside D-Kun's mind.
It was time to move on. Although his preconception of Duke based on the character that Duke had played in his computer-game days was a lie, D-Kun knew that they must both look to the future, where the truth lay. He turned back to face Duke for a second that seemed to last a lifetime.
The two lovers then embraced, lost in each other's arms, in each other's bodies, in each other's souls, fusing like two hydrogen nuclei in an explosion that would blast away D-Kun's doubts and insecurities forever.
