"That was great"

date: June 25, 2004

Ok, so, I've been searching for something worthwhile to play on NG for weeks, and I come upon FT:RW... All I have to say is btilliant. While there are some flaws as has been already said, all in all it was a very enjoyable game. I had to restart mabey three times from accidentally suiciding against the romulan starbase or being rushes and slaughtered by battle cruisers, but after those initial 15-20 mins it got really good. While the AI was really basic, I still got my fleet to do basicly what I wanted. All these people are complaining about getting their bases destroyed... All you have to do, and it's even in the instructions, is keep an eye on the romulans/klingons so whenever you see a D'ridex or a Bird of Prey cloak, head back to your starbase because they'll be attacking it. The hotkeys were awkward at first, but again, after the first 20mins I got the hang of it. I just found your first Flash Trek and I'm about half way throught that, and I notice it seems like you spent a lot more time on that one. A little more time put into polishing up FT:RW and working out some bugs and this would deffinately be a 10/10. For the third one, I'd like to see the galaxy map (like, sectors to liberate and that type stuff) combined with the RTS factors of the second one (like resource gathering and building a fleet). Other than those few faults, I quite enjoyed this game... Good work mate.

"hMM"

date: June 23, 2004

Well it does seem like a nice strategy game, but it needs a lot of work. The ships I build always fly away, the keys are awkward and confusing, and there was no instructions telling me how to harvest resources. The upgrade from the station never worked, and the station is to weak. If you dont sit by it every second, its gone. Good idea, keep working on it...

Author's Response:

Restrictions for upgrading the station is explained in the instructions. The lack of explanation of how to harvest resources is an oversight on my part. I am incorporating all of these new suggestions into the next game. Thank you all for the constructive criticism.

"This would be a pretty good game. . ."

Except for the fact that the allied unites are incredible stupid, you have to constantly babysit the base so that you don't have to worry about it being destroyed. Plus, things are made even more difficult since the Romulans don't give you a chance to build up your base. Perhaps smarter allies and a difficulty feature would help things. Especially since controlling the ships isn't that easy. Heck maybe the C&C feature of clicking a unit and then clicking on the desired location would work better than the arrow keys (However, I really wouldn't care if you did this or not).

However, its nice to see a stategy based game on NG, since there aren't alot. Plus, it has some pretty good innovation even if it is based of the Star Trek universe. I'm sure this could turn out to be a really great game if you changed a few things.

"It's pretty fun"

date: June 22, 2004

This game was pretty fun, but you should fix a few things in no. 3:

1.A way to remotely build ships so that you can be away from the base, but still keep tabs on the resource stockpile, and shipbuilding.

2.Give the player time to gather resources before the enemy attacks.

3.The fact that the enemy base can just spew spaceships without any resource gathering of its own.

4.The NX class should have the ability to polarize the hull plating, thus giving the player a slightly better chance.

"A decent play"

date: June 22, 2004

It could have used a bit more instructions -- it took me a few deaths to figure out how to gather resources and deposit them at the station, since there's nothing about how to do that anywhere in the game. Nice interaction and fairly fun play, though.

"Really quite good"

Though one question, how do you save your game? I can't seem to live long enough to save mind you, but is there a save button?

Author's Response:

Your game is saved every time you transport to your starbase.

"ok...."

date: June 22, 2004

not bad... one question tho. how do you get back to the star base? i assume the little red dots and stuff are a map... or not... i dont know.... i go look for ships and rocks and other stuff, but i cant get back to the starbase. a little help please.

Author's Response:

I'm not sure what you mean. The Starbase is indicated on the sensor map as a green circle. Pilot your ship toward the circle. Your ship is in the center of the screen, indicating the center of the sensor map.

"A good game, but...."

date: June 22, 2004

I like the first one better, this one was far too unpolished, the learning curve was way too steep, and too difficult. I love the idea of building your own army of starships, but the AI sucks too much in defending the station (they just fly to some distant place and stay there) so you have to go back and watch over it all the time. And the engines fails too quickly.

Author's Response:

Sorry to hear that. I am going to try to refine all of the features of the two games for the third.
