Really good movie.

I thought the reason they had to smile is because it is a dystopia, similar to 1984/brave new world. From birth the people are conditioned to act like robots and never be unhappy, to the point that even the guy who was getting killed was still smiling. The disco party at the end is to show there total lack of empathy for the others.

there wasn't a disco breakdown cuz i was mortified by the movie... it was amazing. the attempt to smile, the fact that one of them almost cracked... amazing. i was on the phone and i was speechless.

i think i got the messge (the whole thing was about conformism, the pain that comes with it, and how futile the whole thing really is, right? if i missed the point, pleez let me know), very nicely done, although i did find it a bit disturbing... though i guess that was kinda the point, wasn't it?
i would lijke to know 2 things:
1) was this in any whay insoired by the book 1984?
2) could you please explain to me what that whole thing at the very end was about?

very nice, don't see enough people trying this sorta thing.

I liked the whole message of this, and I thought it was well executed. The end did kind of mess it up, but still very well done.

I thought this as a weird flash. But I think I get the point...
I think that the robots trying to get the person to smile is like the goverment making sure no one says anything bad about the goverment and how in some places, would even go so far as to kill a man for speaking out against them. Not quite sure about the ending though, that did kinda ruin the seirousness of the whole thing...
