Author's Response:
I find it darkly amusing that that's the response I seem to get from most "foreigners" regarding this animation, while the most common response from the US is "LMAO." Yours is more the response I was aiming for. It really seems that our culture has taken violence to the level of pure entertainment, and violence in excess is seen more as slapstick humor than an issue to be worried about. Peas takes this to the Nth degree...pushed to the breaking point, the kid snaps, but the rest of society is as numb to, and ready for violence as he is. Only in this case, everyone is equipped to deal with the possible threat to his or her person.
In America it's all about personal motives and self-actualization...unfortunately it's also a lot about guns and violence. Not the most comfortable of bedfellows.
