"Underwhelming"

date: September 7, 2008

Now I have been told...repeatedly...that I often expect too much, but come on, man. Your delivery of this poem was dry and emotionless and the "art style" lacks any real depth or feeling. The entire tone of this piece..in my opinion...is much darker and more macabre than you've made it seem. I do appreciate the work, though, and I do understand that making flash is a hard and time-consuming process. Overall, I think this was a fairly good piece, I just think it could have used a bit more work.

Pretty good.

"Bravo."

A lot of people have given you the exact same criticism, so I'm just gonna quit that and say GREAT JOB. This as really neat - I couldn't have done it better myself.

"Not done to it's potential."

date: December 14, 2006

This could have been very good. The main problem was the narration, in the beginning it went far to fast, was emotionless and was mumbled so it ended up sounding like
"onceuponamidnightdrearyasipon deredweakandweary"
and if I hadn't already known the words I wouldn't have caught what you were saying. The odd style of art WAS a LOT like Tim Burton's, and in places, simply copied from him. (The portrait of "Lenore") However, if the narration was good, I wouldn't care about borrowed peices as much as I do now, because I was looking to the artwork and style to redeem this movie. It was not enough to do so. Replace the narration with someone who sounds as if they CARE, and maybe I would care too.

"Work on your recitation..."

date: September 21, 2006

I liked the style, a Tim Burton style goes very well with this Poem (Which, is an awesome poem that I've always loved). But there are one or two things I had trouble with.

This bears a strong resemblance to the interpretation done in the Simpsons in one of the Hallowe'en episodes, which is good and bad. But yeah, first thing that struck me was the resemblance.

Also, this is neither a praise or a criticism, but Lenore looks very much like Sally in Nightmare Before Christmas. I wasn't surprised, as you'd said about the Burton influence... But it did make me laugh.

I liked most of it, but the one thing I had a specific problem with was your narration. Sometimes it was too fast, sometimes it was kind of emotionless, sometimes it was just right, sometimes it was almost exactly like the Simpsons version.

But yeah, overall it was really good. Good choice of music, good choice of style, I was on the most part impressed. Well done, needs some work though...

"New saying- Qouth the raven "forever more""

date: September 8, 2006

I love The Raven. The greatest poem EVER!! And the fact you used a real voice? GREAT! Expected the computer voice. Great job. Make a number 2 (more worked on, better graphics, ect). Great job though.

"Good"

date: March 19, 2006

Well, I thought it was really good, I love that poem.

Graphics: The artwork was really cool, I liked it, but the Raven needed eyes. And also, the painting of Lenore looked like Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. The main character was a bit vampiric for me, but whatever.

Style: I thought the style in this movie was great! I liked how you used all greys for the artwork, though in honesty I didn't like that the only color other than grey/black/white was brown. For this kind of movie, red would have been a better choice.

Sound: Well, you get bonus points for the music in the background, I thought that was nice, although it did interfere with the voice acting a bit. The narration REALLY needed improvement, the voice didn't fit the poem and I just thought that there was no emotion in the way the narrator read. It needs some improvement.

Violence: There was no violence, so...

Interactivity: It was a movie

Humor: None, this is Poe!

Overall: I liked it, but there is definitely room for improvement. I hope to see more from you in the future.

Quoth the Raven "Nevermore"

This is my fave poem and it was nice to see a legitamit flash about it after seeing that one by Bellclock. I loved it but sometimes the music drowned out the words and the volume of the voice jumped around, I only gave you a ten rather than a nine is because I love Edgar Allan Poe's workings. Good Job
