Mortal Kombat is definitely one of the most violent games of my generation, and was very refreshing during a time when the web wasn't around to corrupt America's youth. This page is chock-full of great MK parodies and tributes!

Mortal Kombat: Mike Tyson Now here's a guy who deserves to be in the cast of Mortal Kombat fighters!
Mortal Kombat is known by many as the "first violent / bloody arcade game." This is not true, however! One of the first bloody arcade games that I remember was Techmo Knight, and I actually bought a Time Killers coin-op at an arcade auction! Time Killers let you actually cut limbs off your opponents, and they could continue fighting sans appendage. I donated my TK machine to Drexel's school newspaper (The Triangle) when I moved into my new apartment. Maybe some day I'll try to reclaim it!
