Pornography serves a perfectly legitimate use: its trashily enjoyable , essentially harmless, and a safety valve. Of course, theres good pornography and bad pornography but to go out and militate against it in some passionate fanatical way i find misguided.It's a legitimate outlet for otherwise frustrated sexuality, and if somebody reads a pornographic magazine or novel or sees a pornographic movie , i don't see any harm in it, generally speaking. Whereas i do see harm in all these self-righteous people crusading for this worth cause becuase it supposedly exploits women : They end up being censors. If they're so concerned about it, women should write bigger and better pornography of their own and start exploiting men. Of course, it's another thing when it involves or reaches children ; I'm not in favor of exposing any unformed mind to it. And i personally wish, even where consenting adults are involved, and that it would not involve bloodletting.
Pornography, like anything else, may occasionally have harmful effects. Occasionally a sexual crime may have some connection to it, but for all attempts to do so, this has never been conclusively demonstrated. Anything can be harmful if it falls into wrong hands. A baseball bat is not in itself a bad thing, but it can be used as a wepon in the commission of a crime. Are we then to ban baseball? I think not.
