British Age Enforcement?

I live in the UK and it makes no sense to me that you have to be sixteen to have sex but eighteen to watch porn. You're not going to get teenage pregnancies or sexual transmitted diseases from watching some girl getting ploughed are you?

Yes, in logic this makes no sense as there are far more dangers associated with sex than with porn. This standard is classically attributed to the hardcore evangelicals and generation after generation of social conservatism of Anglo-Saxon households and communities. Now while America the two are athe same age restriction; I still believe porn's age restrictions should be set at a lower age, and distributed with condoms to high school teens.

We have the same problem here in the states with alcohol and firearms. You can go off and die for your country at eighteen years old but you can't enjoy a nice, cold beer. Inversely, you can operate a fully- automatic squad machinegun if you join the military, but you can't buy a pistol, shotgun, semi-automatic rifle/pistol until you're twenty-one.

It's the same in the US.

It's a stupid law, but it's not really that well enforced now that we have the internet. The only things you can't do are buy porn videos/magazines and join porn sites. Neither of those things are that vital to your existence.

The law is basically a fallback to keep the activists happy.

What about when a kid steps into a magazine shop and tries to buy Playboy? Doesn't that count as enforcement? Sure, I've never heard of a kid getting arrested, but shop owners have been fined for selling to minors.

It's a law that doesn't pick your pocket or break your leg. Not only that, but it's a law that is easy to circumvent and almost never legally punished. Deal with it.

what I meant was a sixteen year old being arrested for watching internet porn. I have never seen a case of it. Fortunately people are smart enough to not bother arresting anyone for that.
