Anyone want to take a stab at who's behind this?

Easy. I bet Pakistani branch of the Taliban. They've been reigniting that old flame and trying to cut parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan into their own purely Islamic state.

No, I'm going to disagree with you there. Taliban operates locally in Afghanistan so they wouldn't be in India. If they are in India I'd wager they'd want to stay off the radar as much as possible considering how badly thrashed they were at the hands of Coalition Forces.
I don't even think this is some Jihadist group. The entire thing lacks their MO. Jihadists typically use explosives to great effect using such things as suicide vests and IEDs. This group doesn't but rather is equipped with AK-104s, FN FALS, AK-74s and are wearing flap jackets. Not only that, this group isn't using guerilla or even hit-and-run tactics. They're openly engaging Indian forces as though they're a standing military.
Untop of that consider the way they stormed the building. They didn't just go in guns blazing. They carefully planned the whole thing all meticulously rainbow-six style.
I might be giving this group too much credit. Perhaps they're nothing more than terrorists, but for the time being I'm writing them off as a paramilitary group.

The Taliban grew out of Pakistani efforts to train militants with US funds and weapons provided by US efforts with Israel, Egypt, China and others. These funds and resources were diverted from efforts against the Soviets in Afghanistan to be used against the Indians in the conflict over Kashmir. So while their exact motives may be a little nebulus right now you have to realize they are all related and come from the same source.
As for their military training you have to realize that al Qaida arose out of such training. Their training camps are not all about "traditional" terrorist techniques such as suicide bombings but also small sqaud tactics. The reason is no one tactic works well forever and changes with time and place. In fact we've seen such tactics used before such as in Peru when the Japanese Embassy was taken over.
So in short terrorists and terrorism can be trained in a paramilitary paradigm and use paramilitary tactics. You cannot seperate them.

I think its Alkaida thats behind all this attacking, could be wrong.
Hope they get the situation under control soon enough, before more people have to die. They are targeting people with U.S. and British passports too, which also makes this terrorist attack unlike most others.

Meh, these acts of terrorism truly allows us to understand who our opponent is; just a bunch of petty terrorists... Seriously, these Muslim extremists have been carrying-out tiny-scale attacks over many years... Each causing at most 300 deaths... Most of which aren't even westerners. These people can't do shit to us, why do Americans even bother having a homeland security division; at an average of like 10 American deaths per year (excluding 9/11); what's the point of funding anti-terrorist operations. These guys are petty criminals... A single Mafia family could claim more lives than them.
9/11 claimed like 10,000 lives and the terrorists were extremely proud of themselves, they have not been able to reproduce anything even close to that scale ever since. They've got nothing, Americans should be laughing their ass off at their primitive attempts to bing down our immaculate western society. All they're doing with these petty attacks is show just how insignificant their power really is, 9/11 was just a glorifying facade for them, but now we're just starting to realize that fast food is more of a threat to our society than the entire Extremist Muslim world.
