Belief in god is directly related to religion. The majority of people who believe in god do so as part of religion, so it is completely valid to discuss religion as part of a discussion of god.

It's only like that because of society, if you look at the concept from a scientific perspective, using ANY religion to deduce ideas about god-like beings is borderline retarded. Plain and simple.

If you are conducting an experiment or research, are you going to listen to THE MOST biased sources?

I'm not.

Ah, well, my statement still works if you replace religiosity with belief in god.

Belief in god is mostly a symptom of childhood indoctrination, neediness, comfort-seeking, and communal reinforcement. People just don't find it comforting to believe that they've been lied to all these years, that there is no afterlife, and that there is no magical friend to turn to in times of crisis. It's not like you need to understand higher math or physics to realize that belief in god is almost certainly ridiculous.

That's better.

But again, after life is not necessarily connected either.

I don't because I can't. That afterlife stuff would be nice, but I don't believe in any of it.

Do you think your matter can feel its presence in the universe?

How do you think it reacts with other forms of matter?

After you're dead I mean.

Thats what I say.
I don't believe in God and people always say "but what about death"
I say it would be nice to believe but I can never believe in something with so little proof.

MyMonkey, just like someone else has already pointed out: Scientific facts are not opinions. They are based on pure logic, research, discoveries, innovations. What do you think makes a building stand straigth and withstand gravity? 'Opinions'? No, pure math. What do you think allows us to gain energy trough splitting atoms? Opinions? No, pure facts. What do you think makes you BREATH, EAT, LIVE? Opinions? No, pure biology. How do we know the exact energy needed to perform a certain action? Someone's OPINION? Ofcourse not, we CALCULATE that. And guess what? Turns out our calculations are RIGHT. EVERY time, they're right. Because we have reality on our side.

You are blind, MyMonkey, if you cannot understand this.

I have a pink miniature unicorn in my left testicle. Prove me wrong.

Just because the matter in your body reacts doesn't mean you are alive.
Besides matter cannot "feel". Everything is simply matter doin whats energetically favorable.
Everything is caused be reactions and reactions are caused by electrons going from atom to atom to get a full electron shell and then the atom will be stable.

I could comment on alot said here but I'm gonna keep it short. Religion is bullshit. If God exists and created all this, then who created God? When the bible and all these other religions were created they were just stories trying to make sense of the world. No one knew exactly how our body worked and why people got sick and a hell of alot of other things back then. If there is a God he is not the same God the bible speaks of.

and that is another thing in its all...
human kind is ALWAYS trying to know everything..

true wisdom is knowing that we know nothing...

people need to stop worrying about knowing everything
and worry about whats happening in this world

stop worrying why
and just let what be
be

its is because it is
is that so hard to comprehend..

can something not just be
does it have to have an explaination??

and with the whole feeling gods presence...

i dont know what your feeling..
but maybe its not god...
maybe its just your way of expressing you feeling life...

people can feel life...
its all around them...
and its cool if you wanna call the feeling of everything life...

If it can tell what is a favorable reaction how is that not feeling ones surroundings on a basic level?

It has to be able to tell the difference, even if it's just chemically.

I don't believe in anybody who makes a living out of fooling idiots, they are just a bunch of hypocrites who dare to use the word "in the name of God" in a sentence, get profit out of it and get away with it.

I fully believe in the word, I don't need somebody chanting it in chorus, I am smart enough.

i agree with you
i dont believe in god...
but its better just to believe without needing some one to shove it down your throat...

Im sure neither of us know much about physics on a quantum level so we shouldn't try.

I think it's very idiotic. First of all, if god is so great, why do we have to worship him? He is so great and all powerful but he needs to be worshiped. Yeah, thanks for the Earth and everything its great, but let us live our lives please. We must show up to church every Sunday and apologize for being human.

That's my opinion.

Plus there are so many different religions that are just different versions of each other that none of them are actually believable.

Best. Thread. Ever.

Contradiction.

Lol, he owned you in one word.

I shall elaborate. You are starting to believe there is no God, but believe in Hell? Pretty smart.

I have seen miracles in my years (not much lol) so i do believe there is a God, i think the Bible is full of lies though, and if God does exist, i am sure he would not be mad, if he is a he, it could just be a source of energy that created the universe O_o

i'm frustrated because of all the times i have read crappy sigs like this one.

Once the brain dies, I don't think you can feel your presence. You are gone because without your brain, you don't have any memories, or any thoughts, or any ways to perceive anything. I hope I answered that correctly.

So then your brain, let's assume, is a specific organization of matter right?

What if, in a billion years, this specific organization popped up more than once.

Would you come back into existence? Per say?

Huh. I don't know. I mean, I do think all of that is possible, but I'm not going to get my hopes up and sometimes I wish I could believe that death isn't the end, but I just can't.

And even if the scenario you proposed did occur, you wouldn't know you've existed before, and you wouldn't have any of the same memories because you would know different people and have different experiences, so I think it'd be hard to even tell.

Death isn't the end, it's just the end of knowing you exist. That's all I'm trying to say really. So it might as well be the end. But physically, scientifically, our matter is still playing a role in the universe.
