play baseball. I believe she does have the right to play baseball. We need to get out of this way of thinking that boy's and girls can't play sports together. Just because most men are stronger then women doesn't mean that there aren't any women as strong as men. So I say good for her.

Meh, I don't see why we don't let girls try out for men's sports, if they can handle it they can handle it. No real reason to separate it.

What kind of a backwards hick state is Indiana anyways.

Just over the threat of being sued, the school should have allowed her to play. They have no chance of defending their rule.

my question is why she wasnt allowed. that makes a large diffrence.
also i do belive that she should be allowed to go for it, their are women in the armed forces, some better thatn men. also there is no doubt that women can handal it, they survived decades of sexualism, and abuse(watch Iron jaw angles)

Wow, it's been awhile since I've seen a Title IX dispute. I thought we were past that as a society.

If gender roles and stereotypes are broken then homosexuals will run rampant I hope this does't get through because humanity will be dumbed down even more by it. This is why I hate democracy.

I say nay because girls have their own sports. Why can't a guy try out for field hockey, or girls swimming, or even girls soccer or volleyball? Because it's not tradition and girls and guys have different bodily functions and have been known to be very different when adrenaline sets in.

She should be able to join. I've met girls who joined high school wrestling teams, so if they can handle a sport as tough as wrestling, they sure as hell can play something as simple as baseball.

Who says they can't?

Because it's not tradition

Appealing to Tradition is absolute bullshit, a fallacy if I ever saw one. Tradition needs to stay away and change when new evidence shows that it's not the best way of doing things.

and girls and guys have different bodily functions and have been known to be very different when adrenaline sets in.

What's the big deal?

They do have a chance. Baseball and softball are probably as similar as Men's Lacrosse and Women's Lacrosse.

The fact of the matter is that there are sports in which the physical differences between a boy and a girl are more relivant than others. Baseball is not one of them. It says in the article that the school has a female kick on their football team. That seems reasonable. If they had said a female left tackle then maybe I would have looked twice. I'm not saying there aren't girls who arte capable in the role but they are few and far between.
In short, she should be allowed to try out. From there it's on her if she gets in. Putting her directly onto the team from a courtroom would just breed resentment.

the only real difference is the size and hardness of the ball. Of course, this should also mean that the wimpy boys should be able to try out for softball to keep things fair.

Agreed, no harm in letting her try out. If there's a real fear she'll get hurt and sue, if she makes the team you make the parents sign a release, asses are protected, and it's all good.

The problem is that she will become a homosexual. You guys don't get it If we allow more than 10 percent of the world to become slightly gay then we will be killed. Hell I'm bi-curious but I'm trying to get 100 percent straight by going to christian, nazi, and anti-fag sites. Atleast I'm trying to cure myself.

It's baseball for crying out loud. It's not like she's going to get body checked into the boards at 25 mph or tackled by a 250lb Defensive lineman. Worst case scenario: she gets beaned by the ball. I think the boys are scared.

Injured Workers rights were taken away in the 1920's by an insurance company (WCB), it's high time we got them back.

If there is no all female equivalent team provided or coed team then she should be given the oppertunity to participate in team tryouts. This of course does not mean that she should automaticly be on the team but allow for skills to be displayed and tested.
Also if she is alowed this oppertunity then males should likwise be allowed to do the same to the all female sports. Example: during my senior year in high school a female student wanted to be the kicker for our football team. The arguement went to the school board and was decided to allow her to tryout, as a result one male student in protest demanded to be allowed to tryout for the cheerleading squad (no real intention of being on the squad just to see what the school board would do). They were both allowed to tryout for the teams and the results were the girl was not selected for the football team but the male student was selected to be a cheerleader.

I don't think it's necessarily about if she's capable of playing than it is about a "making history" kind of thing. Now, if she can play then let her play, if she can hold her own out there, let her play.
