Hey, I'm looking for an artist/animator for my new game, ThugLife. I intend the game to be pretty graphic-intensive, including a lot of character customization. A general overview of what you will be required to do is as follows:
-Faces (human faces used for conversation, which will be the main way the story is unveiled)
-Customized face options (different pieces of facial hair, hair, lips, eyes, accessories, etc)
-Top-down views of characters (will include customization for the player)
-Top-down views of scenery (urban environments)
-2D, side-on characters (includes animation; used for combat system)
-Introductions for characters before battles (just a small "player vs. enemy" type thing seen in most fighting games)
-Sound effects for animations (does not include voice acting)
-Game menus (I have a prototype for the opening screen, but it can easily be changed if you'd like to do it yourself)
-Anything else that comes up during production
What I'll Be Handling:
I will take care of any and all programming needs. I'll also be writing the plot and scripting out all events that take place during the game and handling the different weapon varieties, stat systems, and battle equations. This isn't to say that you won't have a say in it, but your input isn't required. I'll also take care of integrating your artwork into the game's source and find a suitable musician to take care of the music for the game.
Technical Specs:
The game is currently done in 550x400 pixels with a black background at 30fps. If any of this is a problem, it can easily be changed for your convenience, although I'd like to try to keep the fps as close to 30 as possible so that the game runs smoothly. All profit will be split evenly between us with any extra costs coming from my share.
Plot Overview:
The current plot for the game involves the option of choosing between three different rival gangs. Once in-game, you will find out that you and your gang members were involved with a drug deal that ended in everyone but you and your best friend being killed at the exchange. From there, you'll spend the rest of the game doing various jobs to bring yourself back into favor within the gang, eventually leading up to you taking over at the top of the food chain.
Gameplay:
The storyline portion of the game will take place in a general overworld where players can freeroam around the city and talk to people while engaging rival gang members in combat. Combat will be a somewhat RPG-ish battle system, where different weapons have different cooldown times. You and your opponent can't attack at the same time, but you may attack whenever your cooldown has ended, meaning that characters with quicker weapons could attack several times while a slower character had only attacked once.
Game Demo:
The game demo can be found here. This includes basic functionality, as well as the basics for the combat system. I don't remember where I got the art for the top-down character, but I know it wasn't mine; wish I could give credit, but it's temporary anyway. All art is temporary and will be done by whoever takes the position.
Thanks for reading!

I might do this. If you find a better artist for this, then count me out. I have way too many projects.
Bump.
Also, as a sidenote to anyone that may be interested, make sure to leave an example of your artwork. I've given a lot of information as to what I'll be doing and I need to be sure that you'll be able to perform everything that needs done.

I'm not interested, but, i think people who are interested
would love to know how much money you plan to be getting from this,
how much time you plan to spend on it, you know...the works.
It's fascinating listening to what you want the artists to do, but,
i think people who might want to take the job are more interesting in
what they'll be getting. Yes, you said there'd be a split, but,
that was way too broad.
what
Yeah, I second K-Guare. Also, what sort of artistic style are you looking for?
I would also like to know about the money
I might have time in a bit to do it
I was planning on whoring the project out to every major sponsor that would take a look at it. I'm not really interested in Flash ads because I'm trying to find a company that I can build a reputation with so that I could make larger sums of cash with for later projects. I honestly have no idea what to expect in terms of payment, but I'm hoping it'll be at least over a thousand, and possibly more than that.
So far, I've spent about 3 weeks on it, working on and off at my own pace, seeing as I didn't have anyone else on the team to worry about pissing off by working too slowly. In terms of scope, I want it to be a fairly large game, meaning that I'm willing to put in a lot of effort, probably over two months of work. So if you're interested, keep in mind that this is a long-term project.
For the art-style, I was hoping for a semi-realistic/comic-book type of feeling, with a very dark tone. So basically, the exact opposite of what I have so far. haha.

A'ight, I'm definitely interested. I don't have any good examples up at all, so I'ma draw up a few of the things you're asking for.

Got a few offers, but I'm still looking.
