For health class, my brother is going to go veg for 5 days!! What I'd really like is for him to try it, like it and never ever stop, but that's highly unlikely. I'm glad he'll be doing it though because he's a pretty big meat/cheese eater and eats pretty unhealthy stuff. So he's letting me plan his meals and cook for him, which I'm going to love! I've already planned out all the yummy food I'm going to make and I'm excited about it. I asked him if he'd get extra points if he handed out fliers or protested KFC or something, but he said no. lol. He's going to start his vegetarian diet on Monday. That way I have time to go grocery shopping.

Hi there :D
I'm not vegetarian, and I'm not trying to flame this thread, but:
I've heard many vegetarians say that they don't eat meat and all that stuff because animals have rights, and it's way better for the environment. But however, plants have lives too and no-one says anything about their rights (if that even exists). Plants are very important for the environment too, without them we wouldn't have oxygen, for example.
I always wanted to know... What's your response to this?
Also, I'm not against vegetarianism, it's just curiosity. I know that it's healthier in certain ways and, for example, lowers the risks of cancer and heart diseases, which is a great thing :)
My response is you are an idiot. Omg vegetarians murder plants!!!!
We've got to eat something, and we're all about diminishing suffering. So which way is there less suffering: eating plants or eating animals or eating both?
Plants may grow and reproduce, but they do not have brains or feel pain or emotions, and are not sentient. For those who are concerned about plants, there's always the option of being a fruitarian. But I don't know how to spell it blehh. Anyway, eating plants doesn't destroy the environment like eating meat does because the plants that are grown go straight to your mouth instead of being eaten by an animal that is then eaten by you. That means less land is used.
Plants grown for eating are harvested and replanted, so we don't lose any oxygen-producing plants.
Rainforests however, are DESTROYED so cattle ranches can be made. Vegetarians do not support the destruction of rainforests like you mean meat-eaters do.
In other words, shut the hell up, man.
