Guys, I just recently recalled a story of a couple years ago that kind of makes me sick.
First of all, I would like to say that my father is a French chef, and both my parents own and manage two French restaurants in Chicago. Many people, including members of my family, think me being a vegan is ironic, since French cuisine consists almost ENTIRELY of meat and cheese (including lots of organs, like livers, and baby animals).
Any ways, a couple years ago PETA was trying to get foie gras (French for "duck liver") banned from Chicago because of their cruel measures of duck farming (mostly excessive force feeding). Since my father's restaurants both sold foie gras, him and many of his chef friends decided to take action AGAINST PETA. PETA won their lawsuit, and foie gras is illegal in Chicago. Unfortunately, the law is seemingly pointless, since many restaurants...including my dad's... still sell it illegally. I don't even think it's enforced anymore.
I remembered this when one of dad's friends, who was taking direct action against PETA on the subject, was mocking me yesterday by saying "do you like foie gras?" even though he knew clearly of my pro-animal rights deeds.
