The United States: We started as thirteen colonies, but harsh taxation and treatment of Britain led us to form our own country. In Britain, the rich dominated the poor, made all of the decisions, and the poor had no chance of ever digging themselves out of their hole. When we started, all people were supposed to have equal rights.
But that was in the 1700's--What would we see if we compared then to now?
We have become hypocrites; exact copies of what Britain used to be! In fact, in this three hundred or so years, Britain has lived up to OUR dreams. You don't hear anyone insulting them; their economy isn't in a major crisis! They're humans, but they are civilized... their poverty and obesity rates aren't nearly as high. Their education is better. In Britain, and all throughout other countries--Such as Canada, and most of Europe and Asia. Even countries in the Middle East are beginning to become what our dream was. And eventually, all of these places will pass us; we'll be the new country that everyone else has a grudge against.
Think about it--What kind of people can run for president? Only the upper class--To run for president, you need money, and high political status. But all that does is cloud their vision--Turns them into greedy and self-absorbed monsters. Just think about how great we would be if a middle class man or woman had the power to run for president! Our country would be fantastic! The lower class would disappear, and the upper class would mesh in with the Middle class. Everyone would be relatively equal. Of course, there would be people with extreme amounts of money and those with just enough for a nice house, tv, computer, etc. but at least we wouldn't have so many people out on the streets, in apartments, in dumpsters, etc. What this country needs is someone who understands both sides!
Our judicial system is corrupt. My parents were both called in for jury duty and they were both declined after testing. You know why? They were overqualified. That's right--They were too smart to be on a jury. In a jury, they purposely choose people who can be swayed by a smooth-talking lawyer. And if you have enough money, you can use your smooth-talking lawyer to bail you out of any situation. Think of all the celebrities that have committed murder and continued their life as if nothing happened. (*cough* OJ Simpson *cough*)
Many people in our society value sports over academics--Brawn over brains. It isn't the football players or baseball players that discover new things and boost technology. They're "nerds" in our society--Unwanted and un cared for. Dim-witted, steroid using sports players make Millions of dollars each week! And there are extremely intelligent mathematicians, historians, scientists, etc. that make maybe 100,000 dollars per year. Don't you see anything wrong with that?
And our education system--oh my god. It's awful! We dumb down our schooling for even the dumbest of students, and the students who don't even try! Pre-Algebra, which shouldn't even be a class, is now taken BY EIGHTH GRADERS. I took that in SIXTH GRADE. My entire school is filled up with slackers and burnouts, and the people who actually try make up about 5% of the population. I make flash animations, get straight A's, do extra credit assignments, and work as hard as I can, but I have red hair. Half of the people in my grade ignore the important stuff and call me stupid names like "redhead" and "ginger" to piss me off. Luckily, I can ignore it and just think "I'm better than them, they'll be mopping my floors when I'm older."
But sadly, it affects other people. Sometimes so badly they give up on the important things. They become like the rest of the people. Stubborn and Ignorant.
And finally, religion. It's such a mess if you think about it. Without religion, we would be so far. Without religion, our technology and science would be SO advanced. We could get so far with our research and save so many lives. But no. Religion causes so-called "ethical" problems with stem cell research and the like. Whenever I hear someone praying or talking about "God" in a serious way, my temples begin to burn and I either burst out laughing or storm out of the room. And it's just so many people who believe in a God, it makes me sick. It's this way, because parents have forced it upon their children. They are ignorant to the truth! There is just so much evidence out their now, how can you NOT be an atheist!
Now it's your turn--rant about the world, or counter my arguments in an attempt to convince me otherwise. But my mind is set--The US is probably done for. I'm guessing in the next 200 years, a group will rebel. The revolutionary war all over again. But that will eventually fail, too. It's an endless cycle. It all leads to one main problem--
HUMANS SUCK.
