To be honest thats not quite good, boring color choice and tits just way too simple. No focal point, no lighting effects, no contrast, but maybe thats a bit too much to expect. But still, one thing you can improve on is the outlining, because a lot of vector points could be removed; and the coloring, experiment with gradients and alphas.

But its not a bad start.

I stopped using flash over a year ago, along with my tablet thats a 5 minutes drawing maybe 7, i didn't bother to try just wanted a quickie for my profile. I am aware its terrible, I though do like my color choice of black and yellow i have a frame work for the story along with other things, one thing you could tell me is how would i make my outline better along with vector points if you dont mind and have a few spare moments aim,msn or here is fine.

Yeah same, I'm kinda out of practice too, its been like 2 months since I've done anything art-related, and I started an animation a week ago, and things are slowly starting to come back to me.

And uhh you used black and green, not black and yellow, haha. What I was saying about the color choice was that its not the base colors you picked that were the problem, it was that there were only base colors, the thing is if its some shadow-related thing, then it should definetly be somewhat translucent, so go to the color mixer, and play around with alpha ,radial and linear gradients and other things. You can make it look alot better, and to make it obvious that its not fully opaque, even if its just a little bit transparent, add a background, so people can tell.

About vector points, vector points are mathematical points that flash use to make lines and fills, so everything you draw in flash is made up of them, excluding bitmaps(JPEGs, PNGs, etc.). So you can optimize these to lower the filesize drastically and it'll only make minor changes to the drawing. You can also modify your pictures to make their outlines smoother, or straighter, just select something, and go to modify > shape > and pick smooth, straighten, or optimize. Or to use smooth and straighten there are icons on the tools panel when your using the selection tool. It looks kinda newby if when a drawing is one solid color and the outlines are bad. Sometimes you'll want a sketchy, messy, look. But sometimes you wont, so learn to use these features.

Also, that other drawing you posted is good, keep at it.

Does the art forum mean that this thread is going to die? Or are people going to continue using this thread too?

I dunno if it's within Tom's power to move this thread to the art forum. It'd be a shame to loose all 1.2K pages here.

I've only submitted a couple of pieces to this thread, but love to look in and see other people's artwork, some of it's just orgasmic.

I DON'T WANNA SEE NO MORE PWETTY PICTURES :'(

I'm in for a "Keep Showcase Thread Alive" campaign.

Seconded. This thread is too great to go down, also if this was moved to the Art forum it would probably be filled with spam, I think. On the other hand, artists will get more comments if this was moved to the Art forum...

We could always just create 'Newground Artist showcase thread 2' in the art forum and provide a link to this thread in the first post?

I don't think this place should get moved to the Art forum, even though it WOULD make sense. The Flash forum has been its home for too long and I think it would be recieved differently there, people in the Art forum haven't been going here a long time, so they might see it as another Ms paint dick thread or something. I vote that it stays here and we just continue on normally, and if a Mod does move it to the Art forum I hope it's someone who knows what they're doing (either Luis or Neg) because they also post in here quite a lot and they'll clean up the thread accordingly if it gets too bombarded with spam in there. Just my thoughts though...

always behind schedule.

Why are you all talking as if something is going to happen. Let this thread just sit here, not plan for it to become a animators outlet, not plan for it to be our little reg lounge, not plan for it to be locked etc etc just let it be and see what happens.

That's about all we can do. << That annoys me saying that, because thats as if we HAVE to do something.

Pretty awesome, I've never liked how you do your clouds. All of your style has a charming simplicity to it, but the cloud always seems quite too childish. I can't really explain, I think it's just the shape of it.

Hmm, i can see where your coming from but how would i draw clouds simply? My clouds are getting better though xD

Outstanding! If not for the art, then for the subject. I hate those fucking emoticons! I'm always listening to music via my computer and usually have it up pretty loud (I have a subwoofer as part of my speaker system) and god forbid I ever accidentally scroll over one of those damn things. About startles me out of my chair when I do. I'm going to pretend the one being eaten is the "hellooooo" emoticon.
Bravo! *claps*

As for the art, I think I'm going to kind of hang around here for a little while as the new forum dies down, at least until a stable thread is made. We might want to consider getting all the NG artists together that have made their home here like BMK, Squeezy, LaserKarl, Sneakers, myself, and others to consider coming to a concensus on how, when, and who should start it. Granted, I know that's usually wishful thinking to do something to that effect, but I'd like to remain optimistic about this new transition.
I'm extremely willing to put my own effort into this. Let it be the one really serious thread in the new Forum, where you can always count on the best regulars/artists to be, and one that even the newest artists on the site can feel unintimidated and welcome to show their work, ask questions on whatever medium they use be it digital, classical, or both, or to just talk and network with fellow artists on the site.

Here's a pretty good thread by hashbrown. The only problem is that it takes long for someone to draw the other person's character. As a matter of fact, there are a few stable threads there too.

That looks pretty wierd. You must have photoshop or some high-caliber design program like that. It would be wierd to see it placed in a movie

THis topic is basicaly what the Art forum is all about, this is the Art forum within the flash forum.

I love this thread, I don't want to have to weed through the junk in the Art forum to find this. I vote Live on within the Flash Forum.
