I'm sort of torn as to how this turned out because while it achieves what I wanted which is a digitally aged look, I'm not so sure whether I like it now.

They don't always mean to hurt you. Though it doesn't make things any easier when they do.

Wow, another masterpiece. Your work will always be some of the best in this club. The art type and colors really set the mood, and the actions displayed are just perfect. 10/10!

Yeah, your stuff is awesome! ...I vaguely remember you explaining your technique/s before, but after sifting thru several pages of your past posts, I couldn't find it... could you possibly give a quick recap?! Thanks!

=) Glad I'm living up to something finally. I'll have to work more on my physical image now, I know I've let so many people down now that they actually know what I look like in real life! I'm so sorry...
Really though, thank you!

Wow... this is like totally making up for other things that aren't causing me to be too happy right now. Awesome!
*sniff* I r feeling special tonight.

Recap on my techinque...
Well, except for the obvious Photoshopped pieces I've been posting, everything I do is hand painted. I usually start out with a basic pencil sketch and then it gets really random from there. I always have a "vision" of what I want, but by the nature of how I paint, that's not always how it ends up. What's funny is the thing that I rely upon is actually a major mistake, and that's when it actually starts to all come together: When I'm forced to make that compromise.
Kind of a side note to that was when Luis sent us all "brown grocery bag" paper for the Sketchbook Tout. It was really hard to work with, but ultimately led to many of us developing an unconventional and creative way of dealing with it. As a result, I was really happy with my submission.
Anyway, a light pencil sketch on 300 gsm watercolor paper taped on all four sides to my drafting table. After that, I pretty much soak the paper with water either with a large brush or a spray bottle and apply washes of color with another large flat brush that gives it a nice base pigment to work with. I actually don't use watercolors that often, but instead work mostly with calligraphy ink (Windsor and Newton, it's the best yo! =p)... I don't know why I like it better, but I do... though it's soooo unforgiving on mistakes! Sometimes I'll mix in some watercolor every once in a while, but only ever for added opacity and matted qualities, really only for Flash BG's...
After that, it's sort of a random event. I run a water soaked brush over where I want the next color to go, dip another brush in a diluted mix of ink and water (depending on how dark I want it) and "touch" it on the paper. The water on the paper pulls the color out and then I kind of give it little "suggestions" on where I'd like to go after that. That's pretty much how I make all my backgrounds, though sometimes I'll let it dry with seran wrap over it and then touch it up later with a dip pen.
Details I mostly tackle with a brush again, but only after the paper is relatively dry, or a dip pen (someitmes on wet, sometimes on dry) and then if the lines are too sharp, I'll touch it up with a water filled brush again, or dab it with a paper towel or my finger.
Finally, I tend to like to "dirty it up" a bit by flicking a pen full of ink on wet paper at it for the large spots and then when it's dry, dip an old toothbrush in ink and run my thumb over the bristles for the spatter.
Mostly, I just use a combination of non-waterproof black ink for everything greyscale (black lines and all shading) and calligraphy ink for any other colors. The last two I posted were just black and sepia by the way.
I use a ruling pen from time to time, and sometimes some random stuff like a broken coffee stirrer as a brush, but overall, that's pretty much how I paint.

This is really the best compliment I could get, thanks... though now I'm a little self conscious of hitting the "Post It" button after writing all this egocentric crap on how I do things. What the hell though, it's putting me in a better mood at the moment. I'll make it up by commenting on everyone else's stuff for a while instead!
