Alright, so, my bud and I have been dicking around with some music and such for about a year now, and we're finally starting to settle down and get serious about it, what with our recordings and such. The thing is, our band name.

We've tagged ourselves as "Advence," (a play on the word "advent," not "advance" ...) ignorant for a year to the fact that there's some signed Christian band by the name of "Advent" ... now, I'm no lawyer, but I know there's some stipulations regarding conflicting / similar names. Would this be something to take into consideration when releasing songs for eventual potential purchase / release / so on and so forth, or are the names different enough to where there would be no conflict? I mean, it's not like we have a band by the name of Lincoln Park and we're conflicting with Linkin Park or anything... Just curious before we get TOO attached to the name we're under.

Thanks.

Lmao, while that may hold true, I'm thinking more toward the future here. As in, I don't want to be releasing material under a similar name to a signed band and get an email saying "change your name right now, dipshit," y'know

Nah, it's ok. You can have duplicate names. For example, there are 2 record labels and 14 artists named "Energy"... Check it out.

And plus, there's more than a Christian rock artist called "Advent," there's an electronic artist too... Advence, however, is not taken. I say go for it!

New Song on XD: James Brown Is Dead (X Bootleg). Check it!

There's a rapper AND a metal group called Envy.

Funny, we're all different sides of the spectrum
