What's with it, most of my mates would accept one should it be offered, no one would alone though.

Then you come on newgrounds or you've got a smoke in your hand and people start screaming CANCER and run in circles.
It's just a plant, like marijuana, all that smoking propaganda is targeted at pack a day smokers.

Yeah, but when you are surrounded by smokers in a bar or restaurant, you can't help but wonder whether their decision to poison their lungs is negatively impacting you through 2nd hand smoke.

If you want to bring death upon yourself earlier than normal, go for it. But don't drag us nonsmokers (who don't really see the point in smoking and just assume that you got hooked early on and now don't have the willpower to stop) down with you.

I'm not a smoker, I agree smokey bars are disagreeable. But either you go to them or not it's your choice and a night in a smokey place every now and then isn't going to kill you. Plus, what doesn't damage your health these days?

It's normally not that simple to just 'not go' to a smokers bar. Usually you're just hanging out at a bar with your friends, and then a whole crew walks in with cigarettes and plops down right next to you. You can either ask them to stop smoking (which usually never works) or you can leave. I feel that this ultimatum is wrong - since the smokers are the ones creating the situation, they should be the ones to leave.

And I don't know the exact quantity of second-hand smoke you need to inhale for it to do damage - but I'm not going to keep tolerating smokers and breathing in their fumes to find out.

I tend to avoid most things that are damaging to my health. I exercise, eat reasonably correct and keep my alcohol consumption/drug use to a minimum. I just don't think going out to parties and bars should automatically decrease my lifespan without any decision-making on my part.

Look the simple fact is, for the momen at least, either you accept the situation for the moment and don't worry too much, or you waste your time worrying about something you can't change; unless you actually want to stop complaining and get political. Just enjoy life while it lasts and don't worry about the end which you can't change much anyway; alot is just all down to your genes and luck in the end.

Now if you were in Switzerland you could launch an initiative and let the people decide if they want to ban smoking in bars. Which would probably succeed. I love our democracy it's so nice to actually have a say on more than just who you want but also what you want. Little word of advice come here if you want real democracy.

I used to smoke roll ups and they were just a plant. With a cigarette paper and a filter.

I would imagine a lot of those chemicals are naturally found in the tobacco plant. And a lot of them would be from fertilizer and pesticides.

When most people start smoking it's generally because of peer pressure. You know, the cooler kids in class smoke and so you seek to be cool like them by smoking.

So the kids on NG who go "CANCER, SMOKING BAD BLAH" are just subconsciously trying to kind of badass by appearing to be against smoking. Fact is, if the kids who run their mouths about smoking online were offered a smoke in real life they'd likely try it. Peer pressure lol.

I don't see why it's socially acceptable for non-smokers to speak this way to people who smoke a simple cigarette, it has absolutely nothing to do with them whatsoever.
