Gay marriage. Religion. War. Unwed mothers. Unemployment.

They all seem like separate issues, don't they?

They're not.

They all have a single stream from which they emanate, and single source that causes them all, a single, fatal crack in the armour of a well designed social system:

LOVE.

Our system is based around a faith based belief... in LOVE.

First, let me challenge ANY of you to show me ONE scientific study ONE! that PROVES the existence of TRADITIONAL love. Not lust, not sex, not mother's genetic imperative to preserve their offspring or the residual genetic imperative to enjoy and wish to protect those you find either genetically or culturally similar to yourself, but LOVE, the idea of single, monogamous, spontaneous, EVER LASTING, unconditional once-in-a-lifetime LOVE.

Why do gays want to get married? Because they believe in love, just like Christians believe in the Holy spirit or Militant Muslims believe in heaven for martyrs or soldiers believe in patriotism. Why do we have religion? There are religions without Gods (taoism/buddhism are good examples) but NO religion fails to regard LOVE, whether it be love for knowledge, love for truth, or love for some god or a believe in love FROM some god. Why do we have unwed mothers? BECAUSE LOVE DOESN'T EXIST. Why do we have people in the street with no money and lonely people in mansions sitting on piles of it? LOVE DOESN'T EXIST.

Love is a FAITH-based belief with NO scientific backing. Homogenous belief in love is the cultural cornerstone of western society, the supposed SOURCE of all new human beings, and the definition of where they belong in families and societies, their positions of functional aptitude gone by the wayside.

For this reason, our society is falling apart. When one person believes in love, and another believes in reality, the one who believes in love suffers. When two or more people believe in love, the result is quite similar to mimes make believing in a wall. As long as everyone pretends to believe the wall is there, to feel it, to not cross it, it seems to actually exist. BUT IT DOESN'T. IT'S AN ILLUSION.

If love was real, why would a man get a woman pregnant and leave? Shouldn't he "love" her for being the mother of his children? If love were real, why don't people accept it when two members of same sex are in "love"? I mean, love is supposed to conquer all, right, even boundaries of sexual identity? If God loves us, why do we suffer? If we love truth, why do we lie to ourselves with false religions? If people loved each other, why would we all Iso easily bomb, poison, shoot, and starve our brothers and sisters in the human race? If love really existed, and was worth more than money, why aren't the rich willing to share their wealth with the poor for it, considering the poor should be able to create infinite amounts of the stuff?

THERE IS NO "LOVE." There is only sex, culture, and family. You "love" your friends because they share your taste in culture. If they stopped sharing your tastes, quit finding YOUR conversation tasteful and vice versa, would they still be your friends? NO!

Quit living this lie, people! You're only making yourself victims! Those who believe in only truth and reality will eat you alive if you think "love" will protect you!

Religion is a scapegoat. Marriage is a scapegoat. War is a scapegoat. Greed is a scapegoat. It's all us, as a society, being in DENIAL about the fact that there IS NO LOVE!!! We're all a bunch of stupid mimes, believing in this imaginary wall, this "love" that's stopping us from acting like civilized, modern, INTELLIGENT humans!

Makes sense. It may not be entirely true, because you haven't really proven it cannot exist, but it definitely makes sense.

This is ridiculous. What proof can there be for any emotion? If someone has deep-seated feelings for someone, even if it is based on lust, then why can that not qualify as love? It's just a word to describe...a connection, I'm not sure if that's the right word. Just because you haven't felt it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. This notion that everything needs scientific proof is really narrow-minded and frankly quite cynical. It's something you feel, not something you conjure out of a test-tube.

It sort of does... in a sense. It has The Buddha, but The Buddha is the enlightened one, and anyone has the ability to become enlightened. So each of use has the capabilities of becoming omnipotent and all knowing. That's basically how that religion works.

I do believe that love exists. Love is a creation of the mind that we as humans have created to keep our species going. If we did not ave love, mothers would abandon their children at the hospital in every case.(yes i know that acctually happens).

It has kept us strong as a species in order to form a complicated and pulsing society. It has created war and peace. Love courses through every one of us. If you dont believe in love why are you so compasionate that it doesnt exist. If we lack love in our life we still feel the pain of something missing. Once something is missing we feel the desire to take the empty space and put it into another social action and reaction.

But i also believe that fear and desire are the twop strongest emotions we feel and react with. Love is the name we have created for a level and specific mixture of fear and desire.

Love is not a thing, it is an idea, and ideas do not need concrete form to exist. There is not a single atom of "love" in the universe, for example, because "love" in an abstract idea that represents a complex array of human emotions.

You could easily say that, likewise, there is no such thing as "beauty" or "justice." And you would be wrong, because it's pretty damn difficult to prove that an idea doesn't exist.

I disagree. LUST, LUST keeps the species growing, and GREED, GREED to possess a baby keeps the species growing. It's GREED to OWN a baby that makes women treasure their children, not love.

Because I honestly believe it's fucking up my world. MY world. I have a vested self interest in the destruction of love; to live in a functional, happy society. When love is gone, MY world will operate MUCH more smoothly, with much less unnecessary drama and bullshit.

I had a paperclip stuck in my jaw for eight months. THAT was pain. I got run over by a car. THAT was pain. The only pain love has ever caused me it caused when I BELIEVED in it, just as the only pain God can cause you is when you BELIEVE in God. A thing that doesn't exist doesn't hurt me. I became much happier and well adjusted after I stopped believing in love. And if you can believe it, I GET MORE CHICKS THIS WAY, because it makes me seem honest. Because there really IS no such thing as love.
