"those graphics look rough". Yeah well who set the standard? some rich assholes looking to sell at least 10 million copies of their game? Hearing someone in the gaming media talking about how mediocre a game's graphics are really gets to me. Especially when they are talking about a game developed by a company that could never dream of making a video -game of that caliber(graphically of course). And on the same note I dislike it when the media talks about how the littlest details in say for instance Gears of War 2 are jaw dropping and how long it must have taken them to make it. It is because they HAD THE TIME. This post is not addressing any game or developer in particular(excluding that last sentence). I just think that the whole graphics thing is completely overrated. If we're talking about a game's visuals the only thing worth talking about is the artistry. And if the graphics are so good that it aids the player's complete psychological immersion than that was a decision the developer chose and is a plus. Do you think that games should stop being judged by their graphics technology and more on their graphical artistry?

It's a shame that the "best games" are now determined by graphics. Don't get me wrong, a game with good graphics can be more appealing but what would be the key factor in making you buy a game? Playability or graphics?

The only time I complained about graphics in a current gen console was baha.

I mean seriously. Luckly the tracks were FUCKING ENORMOUS! 3 hours to beat one track sometimes. And that's probably the reason why the car designs and quality overall took a beating, but still when your so used to what graphics are today, it fucks up your eyes when you see something of a way lower standard.

I tried to play sniper elite again the other day, but reverting back to the ps2 made the damn thing impossible. I couldn't seem to see anything. So much going on in that game my eyes couldn't focus right to the old graphics and I couldn't spot people to shoot. Sniper Elites still my favorite ps2 game of all time tho. This is the only game that the lower graphics affected me this much as far as I know.

I still have my super nintendo and sometimes when I play it. I'm still amazed how stuff looks nowadays.
And lot's of people who don't know anything about video gaming like to read newspapers too.
So it's only logical that all those things are mentioned in those kind of articles.
