Best of October 2008 Nov. 13th, 2008 @ 03:36 PM Reply

I decided to give out prizes for TWO overlooked gems from the Halloween competition. There were so many great submissions this year that twenty winners wasn't enough. I recommend that everyone check out the collection.

DerajN will be receiving a 2009 NG calendar for his recommendation of Three's Horrible, while Whirlguy will get a calendar after vouching for Fucking Kids! Each of the authors of each of these gems will receive $250, rather than $100 like I stated previously.

There are more prizes to go around! Here are the winners for Best of October:

TOP FIVE MOVIES:

1. Fallen Angel Ep. 1 (Pt1)
2. Fallen Angel Ep. 1 (Pt3)
3. Fallen Angel Ep. 1 (Pt2)

4. Legend of Miyamoto

5. Jerry and The Closet

It's pretty impressive that Fallen Angel took the top three spots, considering multiple episodes can often be a liability towards a single one winning. I decided that Fallen Angel has earned $750 in prize money, but I'll count it as a single winner and add two additional prize slots, with an additional $250 each:

Creators of the best games and movies will also receive our updated award certificate! The foil seal tank logo is totally badass:

Wow, that's a seriously nice addition to the existing rewards that the monthly winners receive. I'd be proud to hang something like that on my wall... if I could make flash for shit, that is.

It's nice to see Rob actually stuck out those 4 years of FA 1. Also it's good to see a number one in the portal that isn't video game related.

Whoah, fourteenth place? Thanks, guys, I really appreciate the support. Especially considering what an unproductive turd (flash-wise, that is, the rest of my life is swamping me) I've been this past half year.

Congrats to the winners, you guys made some fantastic stuff this month (October and November are always insane here on NG); and, while I would've liked to see a few others win, for the most part, you guys are deserving.

And that new certificate... mmmyeah... I need to get me some of that. That's sexy.

Stay beautiful, people.

Thanks Tom, for being generous with the prizes. I was hoping to get an award certificate and not to mention, you had it ready framed too which makes it 10x better!

By the way, I really wanted a T-shirt instead of a calender, do I have a choice?

And thanks to everyone who voted :).

Wow, as suspected Fallen Angel kicked some ass. I see our Zekey collab ended up in 15th, ha. Congrats to all the winners, October was a great month.

But ummm... what I really care about, is that fucking sexy award. I have my old one up in my apartment, but... this is just so much more magnificent. Well, looks like I'm going to have to work on a new flash to try to snag one of those bad boys ;3

I am soooo happy Fucking Kids got some recognition. It deserved to win a prize, but because most of the people who watched it were squealing 11 year olds it got an incredibly low score for such a well-animated piece. I'm glad the score rose up again and that Mr. Esala is getting some nice $$$

At first I got a little bit sad when I saw the new certificate, seeing that I won my first only two months ago. My mood soon turned though when I realized that I later on will be able to say that I have one of the 'old school' certificates, and also that I will have the new certificate to motivate me to go for another monthly in the future ;)

Congrats to the winners! :)

Fallen Angel really deserved to be at the top, the author spent years working on it, and the final result is just awesome.

The Mastermind game was great too, and I still haven't played Karoshi:Suicide Salaryman, but it will do it tonight, it just sounds great.

Cheers.

It was pretty obvious Fallen Angel was going to get Top 3, but that's still pretty dang impressive.
Jerry in the Closet was classic, and definitely one of the best movies of October.
De_dust 2 had very slickly animated stickfigures and was pretty funny, and although I didn't find Cup o Democracy particularly entertaining, it was one of the best politically-based movies I've seen at least recently.

Mastermind: WC and Karoshi both were wonderful and well-deserving of their top spots. Meat Boy seemed to lag a lot but it was still pretty addicting, so I'm happy to see it up there, too.

8. Super Mario bros Z ep.7

The SMBZ series seems to have gotten knocked just out of range of prize money.

9. John McCain
16. Ferrets

I thought people here liked Ferrets more than John McCain and his vegetable friends, but it scored a lot higher, haha.

11. One Big Morphing Orgasm

This is one of the coolest collaboration concepts ever. TheBoogley should have gotten something for the idea, at least.

20. Bowser's Kingdom: Movie

I didn't expect this to even come close to winning, but somehow it's comforting to see it's still in the Top 20 considering the effort araskin and pthouse put into it. Length is nuts, too.

Will the fourth part of the Treasure Hunt winners be announced any time soon?
