Is my bass player retarded?

My bass player Steve is almost IMPOSSIBLE to work with, so much so that I can't seem to get ANYONE I know to work with him.

Recently he came up with this idea for a band with two bass players, no vocalist, and drums. All he really does, though, is play as fast as he can with lots of effects; his knowledge of chord theory consists of power chords, and he's incapable of following... EVER.

It's to the point now where I'm just going to have to drop the guy, because he's an idiot. Like, agressively stupid. He actually TRIES to be dumb, like it's difficult or something. You can tell him all day why something won't work (he thought if he did enough LSD the chick who uses him for money would want a serious relationship)

The guy's basically become a big joke, and he's got a HUGE ego because he played a bunch of shows with me, despite the fact I don't really have an ego about it. Once he was actually so stupid as to brag to a potential guitarist about how many studios he's recorded in, despite the fact I'm the only person to ever record him... EVER. Now, I've recorded him in multiple places, BUT THAT DOESN'T COUNT AS MULTIPLE STUDIOS.

The guy makes me feel like I'm living in the movie Idiocracy.

Worse, most of the songs I have with him on the NG AP have some RECORD low scores... despite the fact EVERYthing I've submitted before AND AFTER does really well.

I've been working with this guy for three years... but it looks like I'm going to have to let him go.

So NG, what should I do? And by "what should I do?" I mean "CONFIRM MY DECISION I'VE ALREADY MADE PLS THNX"

BTW, he's the bass player from Strangled Blue and Chiselfist in my audio submissions if you wish to compare scores.

For reference, he once quit his job so he could pursue a career as a taxidermist, however, he never learned how to do DEER.

The bassist is the nerves of the band while the drummer is the backbone.... Being quadroplegic sure must suck...

Sounds like the opposite of my band's ex-bassist. He was all negative about everything and totally said that "Yeah, we won't become anything" even though he himself was the sole reason why things weren't going forward (not training or anything else either for that matter).

Either way, as we did with ours, if I were in your shoes I would kick the bassist's ass out of the band.

I think you've got a great diagnosis there. If you need him out of your band, could you maybe find another retarded bass player and a retarded drummer and get them to join his idea for a band? Then you could encourage hm to do this full time instead of your band and make out like you are doing him a favour.

My only other advice is to get him drunk and then drop him off in Mexico, but I don't know if that's legal.
