I saw this interesting job ad on craigslist for a company named after some kind of mountains or something. I made the hour bus trip out there to find out they don't pay hourly, but weekly. Sounds ok so far right? The catch is they expect you to work 65 hours a week.

Decent pay? I would have to work 11 hours a day 6 days a week. That doesnt even factor in the travel time. How is that not a scam? And I did call and ask questions. They gave very limited info. Didn't even tell me what the job entails. I even told them I cant work tuesdays and thursdays because of school (which obviously would mean I couldnt work 65 hour weeks) and the guy I was talking to told me to come in any ways. They just want people to come in and interview, then they tell you the bad news. You waste a couple hours but hey, they dont give a shit, for every 10 people they do that to, 1 of them say "oh well I need a job". Fucking scammers. They are worse than vector.

Seriously you can work much much more resonable hours and still get good pay. 40 hours a week is working nearly every day 65 hours a week..thats working roughly 9.3 hours EVERY DAY no days off. even if you worked 12 hours shifts I doubt they would give you more than a day off every other few weeks.

They all had their own small offices behind a door in a hallway. The fact that all you fuckers are so sure this isn't a scam even after I tell you about it makes me feel less dumb for falling for it.

Dude, it's a salary position, welcome to the real world.

Most people who don't make their wages based on the hours worked have the luxury of not punching a clock everyday. Most of the time, we end up working much more than 40 hours a week. The DOL has special exceptions to paying overtime to salary employees.

This is illegal.
Why? Minimum Wage and overtime laws.

Minimum wage in Oregon is $8.00, 25 hours (65-40=25) is considered OVERTIME. Overtime demands that they be paid for an hour and a half, or $12, in this case.

40 @ $8.00 is $320
25 @ $12.00 is $300

If they pay any less than $620 for the week, file a complaint. Whether you take the job or not, file one.
