Wondering what's the longest you've ever spent putting together a song :D

for me, I have 2 "holyshitrediculous" time spent songs

That ate my summer, approx. 4 months according to the day posted and the date the project file was created

back in 2005 (maybe 2004) this song took me about 5-6 months, but I couldn't post it until the file size increase

I started this song a couple years ago, probably even before The Viper Project, but I didn't exactly work nonstop on it for years, just poked into it every now and then to add a little more and update the file when I got a new version of FL

so....what's the longest you guys have spent? :D

I'd have to say the longest time I took to make a song was 2 months, and that was my Sonic Next-Gen His World remix. Unfortunately, the turnout was a piece of s***, so I'm not posting a link LOL

hahah yeah I hate it when that kind of thing happens, or you make a good song over a couple weeks/months, then turn around and kick it's ass with a 1 nighter

When I was first learning to compose, I made a minute piano piece. Took me like 6 months to continue it and working on the left hand. It was so horrrible that I ended up trashing it.

On the bright side, I learned a lot from that stupid horrible song.

I guess I learned not to fuck up so bad.

My longest time i ever spent time on a song was about a month because that song was the break of my writers block, so it took a hell lot of time.

Song's title is called trisun. I dont bother to put a link :P

I've had two songs in FL, from, early this year late last year. They're the only 2 I've been working on inside FL, and they're no where near finished.
Bit OCD when it comes to producing.

What happens to me is that if I don't touch a track in a week, then I will probably never touch it again. With that said, the longest time it's taken to make a track has to be:

According to my AIM logs, we started it on September 25, when Neodrummer sent me over a melody. Then, from there, I did the rest, submitting it on November 1, completely finished, for a grand total of... 1 month and 5 days from conception to completion. Not bad.

However, the song that Chim and I are working on now is much older... I started it on September 9 as a freeform track, then we slowed down the tempo to make it Hard Dance. It's still not done, but we're working on it :P

New Song on XD: James Brown Is Dead (X Bootleg). Check it!

4 years

(lawlwlw more like 5 minutes for that one)

So funny story:

Before I even was familiar with the weekly top 5 and was pretty much just blindly submitting songs to the portal, I submitted this back in 2007 in the 'Grunge' section. I was still pretty newbish back then.

Anyway, lo and behold it made #1 of the week, and I had no idea what that meant. I'm sure a lot of people were really mad ;D

I'm thinking close to a month and I never finished the song becaue I began to hate it. If you mean hours straight, I would say 8 hours (it was an older song of mine on an older profile). The song itself ended up lasting 8 minutes.

10 years is a long time, during all this time even Batman's theme changed several times ... maybe that's why you can't figure it out, changed already

For me it's simple. The longest was my very first composition, I had absolutely no composition skills and I didn't know about 9/10th of FL Studio's options. I only used Sytrus and I didn't even know the Mixer existed, so there's absolutely zero mastering:

~4-6 months of on and off work to finish "Breathing You In", the most popular track from my album Antigravity. It's a huge, breakbeat/trance club anthem that got picked up by a label and is now available basically everywhere. My only regret is the volume level... wish I had toned it down a bit!

Funny how such a good producer is now on newgrounds.
It's like seeing Paris Hilton shop and Wal Mart or something. :P

I've spent about a month on this twenty nine minute progressive rock/jazz song called Infernal Apocalypse, but it simply won't fit posted anywhere unless I compress the shit out of it, which I won't do.

But the longest I can link to is probably this one, I spent only about 4 days on it:

I still have projects that aren't finished and its been years now. I usually work on about 5 tracks at a time and the one I work on is usually dependent on the mood I am feeling for the day. Very few tracks of mine do I actually declare as finished seeing that I tend to always go back and work on them some more.

there is two projects of mine that I've spent about a whole year on and I still havn't posted them in newgrounds knowing that they are so far from complete. these tracks are like classical music they have so much going on and are pretty long.

A couple excerpts from those projects that I have cut down and put on newgrounds are
from my 30 minute trance track

and an offspring from my 30 minute industrial track sound scape I made.

One thing I've really noticed . . .

It seems that the longer time spent on a song the better. However, put too much time into it and you'll totally like kill the mood of the song. I did that with His World LOL.

I tend to work on more than one thing at a time and also leave some things for long periods of time doing nothing to them :P

"Evisceration Nation" (originally called "Eviscreation Nation" until I found out "Eviscreation" wasn't a word :P ) was the first thing I started when I found out how to use garageband. I think that was 2005 or 2006. Still working on it :P Although I've deleted and restarted it 2 or 3 times now. There's now a "Punk" version and a "Gothic" version.
