Slavery is an exaggeration. We'll almost certainly look back on it like we look back on Rosa Parks being forced to sit at the back of the bus. It's state-and-populace-forced discrimination; your post displays very obvious prejudice against the worth of homosexuals, which isn't much different to discriminating based on skin colour.

Why is marriage between a man and woman? Why must it be kept as such? Marriage used to be a man with all the power and a woman with none, but equality changed that. It used to be that it was easy for a man to divorce a woman and impossible for a woman to divorce a man, but equality changed that. Marriage has changed for the sake of equality an awful lot in the past few centuries, this is like a final step.

Marriage used to be to keep families rich, joining land ownerships and the like, it was nothing to do with love. Should we go back to that? Or since nowadays, marriages are initiated with love, maybe we should allow any two consenting people to marry each other.

No it's not a choice. Is heterosexuality a choice? Could you, personally, choose to be homosexual? Why would anyone choose it? Some of you guys automatically make them second-class citizens; no-one would choose that. I'm pretty sure if sexuality was a choice, everyone would choose to be a heterosexual with very vanilla preferences, but there's a whole myriad of sexual flavours out there and no-one 'chooses' any preference. You choose to partake in sex, but you don't choose what you like, that's like 'choosing' to like peanuts.

I really think anyone who passionately disagrees with gay marriage has some serious issues. They're either sexually confused, actually a nasty person, or want to impose their religion on everyone else. 'Family' and 'the sanctity of the word 'marriage'' are garbage excuses. There is always some group or groups of people that have been excluded and denied rights in the United States. Eventually they become integrated and get to do the hating on the next group.

My belief is if it doesn't personally effect or hurt you, you shouldn't care. And you certainly shouldn't hide behind your religion to defend your hateful bigotted fears of something different.
